their 75th Midsummer and
Reunion.
The gathering will be held
Thursday, June 23 at the
nephews, and loved ones.
Michael, you will be

A Visitation was held on
Monday, May 30, 2022,
with the recitation of the
Holy Rosary at Provi-
dence-Jones Family Fu-
neral Home. A Mass of
Christian Burial was held
on Tuesday, May 31, 2022,
at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church. Interment followed
at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted

High school student recognized for reading excellence
SPJST Hall in Elgin. It will
start with a social hour from
5 to 6:30 p.m. A chicken
fried steak dinner will fol-
low.
An interesting program
has been planned with
music, a maypole dance and
more. A Swedish store and
bakery are also planned.

ily wishes you to consider

want to thank all the loving
workers at SPJST that cared
for her, and everyone that
visited her recently to give
her a hug.

7:00 PM at Condra Funeral
Home, Taylor, TX. A burial
will occur Saturday, June
4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St.

Marjorie “Laverda” Ki-
eschnick Walther at the age
of 92 years, passed away in
her sleep on May 20, 2022.
She was born on the fam-
ily farm near Thorndale,
Texas, on December 29,
1929. Last year, she relo-
cated back to the area and
has been living at SPJST
in Taylor. Marjorie was
baptized in her home on
January 19, 1930, by Pastor
F. H. Stelzer. She attended
St. Paul Lutheran School
in Thorndale and was con-
firmed on April 18, 1943.
Her confirmation verse
was John 11:25-26, Jesus
said to her, “I am the resur-
rection and the life. He who
believes in Me, though he
may die, he shall live. And
whoever lives and believes
in Me shall never die”.
March 8, 1947, Pastor
Stelzer married Harold
Leroy Walther and Marjo-
rie. After 64 years of mat-
rimony, on May 1, 2011,
Harold passed away. Since
that day, she prayed for the
Lord to reunite them in
heaven. Marjorie was the
youngest of 6 daughters
born to Ernst and Clara
Moerbe Kieschnick. She

Michael Nunez Ramirez,
age 52, of Austin, Texas,
passed away on May 25,
2022. Michael was born
on November 4, 1969, in
Elgin, Texas, to David and
Mary Helen Ramirez. He
was one of eight children.
Growing up, Michael
played many sports, most
notably baseball and box-
ing. He was a lover of
all sports, and one could
always find him watch-
ing and rooting for his
beloved Dallas Cowboys
and New York Yankees.
He enjoyed spending time
with his family, especially
his nieces and nephews.
His family will miss him
dearly.
He is preceded in death
by his grandmother, Janie
Nunez, uncles, Samuel
Nunez, Albert Nunez, and
Joe Nunez, and aunt, Re-
becca Johnson.
He is survived by his
parents, David and Mary
Helen, sisters, Lisa Neal
and Lupe Ramirez, broth-
ers, David Ramirez III,
Xavier Ramirez, Albert
Ramirez, Robert Ramirez,
and Raymond Ramirez,
and numerous nieces,

was preceded in death by
her parents and sisters:
Helen Patschke, Allyne
Leschber, Alvera Lesch-
ber, Gladys Merkord, and
the infant Alvadine.
Marjorie lived her life in
Texas and was devoted to
loving and caring for Har-
old and their 3 precious
sons. She leaves behind:
son Jimmy Ray Walther
and wife Margie; grand-
daughter Jennifer and hus-
band Ryan Ackels, great
grandson Camden, great
granddaughter Molly;
granddaughter Stefani and
husband Brett Burris, great
grandson Hudson; son Mi-
chael Dean Walther and
his wife Steffani; son John
David Walther and wife Mi-
chele; grandson David and

tackles,” Duong said. “In
my 10 years of teaching,
she has been one of the
hardest working students
that I have had the plea-
sure of teaching.”

has completed all 25 seg-
ments of her READ 180
student application while
other students were still
working on their sixth
segment. Every READ
180 segment contains six
zones of learning—ex-
plore, reading, language,
fluency, writing and
success—and takes a lot
of effort for students to
complete. She has also

wife Madison, great grand-
daughter Alison; grandson
Jonathan and wife Michal,
great granddaughter Sao-
irse, great grandson Elliot;
granddaughter Christina
and husband Mark Sayre;
and grandson Nathan.
Marjorie created a home-
life anchored with Christian
values. Attending weekly
church services, Sunday
School, annual Easter sun-
rise, and Christmas Eve
worship was never an op-
tion. She enjoyed teaching
Sunday School and serving
as an officer in the LWML.
Animals were her other
passion and many folks
remember visiting her bun-
nies that lived in the yard.
Children would often ring
her doorbell and she would
let them play with the bun-
nies and call her the Bunny
Lady. Her friends and fam-
ily fondly remember her as
Laverda or Dotsie. She
volunteered at the Public
Library, Meals for Wheels,
and early on was secre-
tary for Taylor Elementary
School.
One of God’s given talents
was her baking. Favorites
were german chocolate

excelled in writing orig-
inal vignettes about her-
self based on The House
on Mango Street by San-
dra Cisneros.
Because of her hard
work, Duong has
awarded Gonzalez the
All-Star award for Read-
ing 1 for 2021-22.
