400 mounted nen will be sufficient. Instruct them to ascertain rebel
strength on your flank and east of your post. Collect good supplies,
subsistence and forage, at Louisa; we will have use for it. Keel) posted,
and advise me of rebel movements in Eastern Kentucky and West-
ern Virginia.
