Graveside service for Bolton (Bo)
Hanson, 86, of Rusk was at 1 p.m.
Sunday at the Pleasant Grove
Cemetery with the Rev. W.F. Sides
officiating. Arrangements were
under the direction of
WallaceThompson Funeral Home.
Mr. Hanson died Jan. 18 at his
home. He was born June 12,1914,
in Lufkin and had resided in Rusk
and Maydelle most of his life. He
was a member of the Pleasant
Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
He was retired from the Texas
Forest Service and was a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 3406 in Rusk.
He was preceded in death by his
wife of 65 years, Doris Hanson.
He was a World War II veteran
having served in the Battle of the
Bulge and received a purple heart
and good conduct medal.
Survivors are a son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Malcome and Rita
Hanson of Humble; a daughter
and son-in-law, Freida and Leon
Lloyd Sr. of Jacksonville; a sister-
in-law, Lorene Meador of Maydelle;
five grandsons; three great-grand-
children and several nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers were Leon Lloyd Jr.,
Randy Lloyd, John Lloyd, Eric
Hanson and Chris Hanson.

88, of Jacksonville, formerly of
Baytown, was at 10 a.m. Monday
in the Thompson Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Duane
Turner and the Rev. Enid Shep-
herd officiating. Burial was in Alto
City Cemetery.
Mrs. Holcomb died Friday, Jan.
19, in East Texas Medical Center
Jacksonville. She was born May 3,
1912, in Troup. She was a member
of St. John's United Methodist
Church and was a former LVN at
Nan Travis Memorial Hospital in
Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Henry Lee Holcomb;
a son, Henry Lee (Hank) Holcomb
Jr. and a grandson, James Austin
Holcomb.
Survivors are a son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Charles R. and Anita

was born June 21, 1909, in Chero-
kee County. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Jacksonville
First Baptist Church.
Virginia Nunley
Funeral for Virginia Nunley,78,
Rusk native, was at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 3, in the Central
Baptist Church of St. Louis, Mo.
Officiating were the Rev Darryl
Rainey, the Rev. Gary Tyler, Dr.
Robert C. Scott and Dr. Robert C.
Scott. Burial was in Lake Charles
Cemetery.
Mrs. Nunley died Dec. 27 follow-
ing a brief illness. She was born
Nov. 20, 1922, in Rusk, the oldest
of 13 children. She was educated
at the Rusk Colored School, later
Bradford School. She attended col-
lege in Tyler.
She moved to St. Louis as a young
adult and met and married Arthur
Nunley. She was a member of West
End Mount Carmel Church for
more than 20 years. She later
joined the Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by
two brothers, Travis Carter and
Howard Carter; parents Gene
Sarden and Margreette Carter;
step-father, Pete Carter; and hus-
band, Arthur Nunley.
Survivors are two sons, Arthur
Lee Nunley and Will T. ( Bill)
Nunley; a daughter, Leonora
Nunley; a daughter-in-law Connie
Nunley; a godson, Jimmie Thomp-
son; five grandchildren, Timothy
Nunley, Anthony Nunley, Marcas
Nunley, Courtney Seymore and
Ebony Simmons; eight brothers,

Funeral for Sylvia Motley, 85, of
Jacksonville was at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the Renfro Memo-
rial Chapel, Jacksonville. Burial
was in Rocky Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Motley died Sunday after-
noon in Carthage. She was born
March 19, 1915, in Alba. She had
resided in the Jacksonville area
for 43 years, was a Methodist and
an Avon salesperson.
Survivors are her husband, Pete
Motley of Jacksonville; two sons
and a daughter-in-law, Michael
and Cynthia Motley of Nacogdo-
ches and Ronnie Motley of Tyler; a
daughter, Donna Buckholt of Jack-
sonville; four grandchildren, Jay
Motley, Ryan Motley, Jeff
Buckholt, Travis Motley, Glenn
Smith and Butch Bateman.

Funeral for Hazel Walker, 91, of
Jacksonville was at 10 a.m. Tues-
day at Thompson Funeral Home
Chapel in Jacksonville with Danny
Henderson officiating. Burial was
in Old Bethel Cemetery at
Frankston.
Mrs. Walker died Jan. 20 in East
Texas Medical Center Jackson-
ville. She was born March 31,1909,
in New Orleans, La. and had re-
sided in Jacksonville since 1965,
moving there from Frankston. She
was a homemaker and member of
the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Edgar Walker, two
daughters and a son.
Survivors are five sons, James
Walker, Dale Walker, Larry
Walker and Ronald Walker, all of
Jacksonville and John Walker of
LaPorte; six daughters, Juanice
Bostick of Rusk, Nadia Massey
and Elizabeth Tate, both of Jack-
sonville, Valda Stewart of Kilgore,
Jackie Dawson of Reklaw and Gale
Smith of Winnsboro; three sisters,
Jean Rogers, Bet Hughes and Pat
House, all of Frankston; 26 grand-
children; 30 great-grandchildren;
19 great-great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews. Grandsons
served as pallbearers.
Light Crust Doughboys perform
The Light Crust Doughboys will
be in concert in Palestine at 7 p.m.
Valentines Day, Wednesday, Feb.

The history of the Light Crust
Doughboys covers more than a
half-century of American music.
In 1929, Bob Wills moved from
West Texas to Fort Worth and
formed the Wills Fiddle
Band, which later became the Light
Crust Doughboys.
With more than 150 record al-
bums and singles to their credit,
the band enjoys a faithful follow-
ing that spans three generations
of music lovers.
The band features Marvin
"Smokey" Montgomery, banjo; Art
Greenhaw, bass; Bill Simmons,
keyboard; Jerry Elliott, guitar and
vocals; John Walden, fiddle and
vocals and Jim Baker on fiddle.

Grace Felllowship hosts
drama team Jan. 27-28

The New Life Drama Company
will perform in Rusk on Sunday,
Jan. 28, at Grace Fellowship.
They will minister during the
morning service that begins at
10 a.m. They will minister
through life-situation dramas
and skits that speak to the heart.
Their anointed ministry style
communicates their message in
a way that is both humorous and
serious, touching both youth and
adults alike.
The team will also hold a drama
workshop from 4- 7 p.m. Satur-
day at the church location for
those interested in training is
using drama. The workshop and
service are open to all who wish
to attend. There is no charge for
these events. A love offering will
be taken during the Sunday
morning service.
The team is based out of Cleve-
land, Tenn. and consists of six
young adults who use the me-
dium of drama to communicate
real life issues and the Christian
message. The New Life Drama
Company began in the fall of
1982 when the Lord gave the
founder, David Woodrow, a vi-
sion to train teams of young
people to minister the Word of
God all over the world through
the art form of drama.
Since that time, the New Life
Drama Company has flourished
sending out several teams that
are pulling down strongholds for
Jesus everywhere they go. They
have ministered in thousands of
churches in the U.S. and Canada,
as well as other countries such as
Germany, Nicaragua, Haiti, Ja-
maica, South America, and the
British Isles.

was born on Jan. 24,2000,
weighing six pounds, two
ounces and measuring
19.25 inches.

gathering they said they
were looking forward to
celebrating her first
birthday in January.

at Jones home east of Alto
The public is invited to join in a worship service for His Place at
the home of Jerry and Lesa Jones, Highway 21, two and a half
miles east of Alto. The special service is at 7 p.m. on Thursday
evenings.

outside the church walls to meet them. An invitation is extended

God's miracle working power in your life."
