Dinner Held
Friday For
Bernard Maness
Bernard Maness, County
performance supervisor was
honored with a dinner Fri-
day June 26 for 28 years of
service to the ASCS and far-
mers of Cherokee County.
The dinner was held in the
New Southern Motor Hotel and
was followed by the presen-
tation of a gift.
He is a resident of Jackson-
ville, but is a former native
of Atoy. While with the ASCS
he was in charge of all field
work in the county.
Bob Persons, ASC manager,
commented, 'The efficient
manner in which Mr. Maneas
performed his work helped to
establish an excellent repu-
tation for ASC's administra-
tion of farm programs in the
county."
Mr. Maness says he intends
to "catch up on his fishing".
His wife was also an honored
guest ar the dinner.

Cathy Copeland of Trinity,
member of the Cherokee Rid-
ers Club of Rusk, won high
point honors Saturday in the
12 and under age group at the
Fast Texas Associational
Horse Show in Cladewater.
Miss Copeland received
sixth In Western Pleasure;
second in Reining; third in
Flag Race; first In Straight-
away Barrels; and first in
Pole Bending to qualify for
the honor.

in Reining, 12 anil under; Pam
Armstrong, sixth in Reining,
13-17; Steve Peters, 3rd in

in Cloverleaf Barrels, 13-17;
and Pam Armstrong and Dan-
ny Hutchins, fifth in the Res-'
cue Race.
