CALIFORNIA
Was Once
Unheard of
Today land is sold for as high as Five Thousand ($5000.00) Dol-
lars and has not yet reached the limit.
THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY is a second California and has
some advantages which they do not have. It is fifteen hundred
(1500) miles nearer the market. Crops mature earlier. WHY
should it not be worth as much? The soil is richer the labor cheap-
er and the watr costs less.
BUY XOW and get in on the ground floor. We can sell you
land in any size tracts near any town in the Vahey. Before closing

HIIjIj ROAD SURVEY
VI LL IN
PROGRESS.
liuiining New i.iiics Improving On
Original Survey Sure to Be Built
Sooner or Later.
"One surveying party is still in
the field" said A. M. Gibson en-
ginner in charge of the survey of
the Hill-San Antonio to Brownsville
railroad who was in town yester-
day. "It is running new lines in
places where the original survey can
be improved up and is now in the
vicinity of Oakville Live Oak
county."
On the question of the probable
Commencement of actual construc-
tion of the road Mr. Gibson said
he could give no information except
that in his opinion it would surely
be built sooner or later as the line
passed through a rich stretch of
country that is too inviting to the
developed to be allowed to remain
idle.

Certain Changes are Proposed. I
Associated Press.
Paris Nov. 10. At the conclusion
of the sensational Steinheil case
Minister Justice Barthou proposed
certain changes of procedure in the
trial courts of France. This de-
cision the minister made known to-da:-
was influenced largely by criti-
cism expressed in the United Stales
and England upon the pir Munis new
in vogue through operation of which
the presiding judge appears in the
role of prosecutor. M. Barthoun plans
to take from president of the court
function "Interrogatorie" and con-
fined it to the public prosecutor and
counsel for the defense the task of
examining the accused and witnesses.
