Hardly of less importance than
the opening of the Nicaragua canal
and the harbors' on the Texas coast
is the proposed opening of an intnr-
coastt.1 canal from the Sabine river
to the Rio Grande. Such a waterway
would be of immense benefit to a
very large scope of territory now
practically without transportation
facilities and it would do a great
deal toward the developme'nt of the
country. Millions of acres of valu-
ble rice land would be bronght un-
der cultivation and millions would
be added to the taxable values of
the state. San Antonio Express.

Disease. '
Sudden changes of weather are es-
pecially trying and probably to none
more so than to the scrofulous and con
snmptive. The progress of scrofula dur
ing a normal October is commonly great.
We never think of scrofula its bunched
cutaneous eruptions and wasting of the
bodily substance vrithout thinking of
the great gcod many sufferers from it :
have derived from Hood's Sarsaparilla
whose radical and permanent cures of '
this one disease are enough to make it
the most famous medicine in the world .
There is probable not a city or town j
where Hood's Sarteparilla has not prov- j
ed its merit in more homes than one in
arresting and completely eraflicatingr
scrofula which is almost 1 serious and j
as much to be feared as its near relative
consumption.

My wife was sicfc for three years. We tried
everything without relief and spent much
money. My wife tried Wine of Cardui and four
bottles cured her. She took two more bottles
knowing she would have to work hard during
the hay harvest. She attended to all her house-
hold duties and loaded and unloaded all the
hay. This medicine gave her strength. For-
merly she was weak and tired and could hardly
get about but since she has been taking Wine
of Cardui she feels better and stronger than
when 20 years of age. JOS. A. EISENHAFEB.
