that are grossly false and with an utter disregard of the
most elementary canons of commercial honesty.
The same tragedies of money wasted that can be ill
spared, of time squandered that can be spared still less,
of the occasional testimony favorable to the preparation
or faker, given at the beginning of the new "treatment" and
finally of the same sad death. And thus it goes under our
present insufficient laws. There is no way of halting this
slaughter of the innocents. So long as men ignorant and
unscrupulous, see fit to enrich themselves on the blood
money of the consumptive, there is nothing to prevent them
so doing, except the tediously slow process of educating the
people to realize the utter worthlessness and potential
danger of every consumptive cure.
