An unsuccessful attempt was made
to assassinate the Czar of Russia Hie
other day.-
Can't Sherman mako a decisive
step toward securing the state re
foroiatory.
Onward until Sherman is the equal
of any city in Texas should be our
watch signal. ,
Republican papers declare the first
two years of domocratic administra-
tion to be a failure.
Tuk Galveston Tribuno hkys: At
last Senator John Claiborno has had
an attack of intelligence.
Sherman asks nothing but a fair
show and her citizens v/ill pubh their
homo to the front evory time.
MKMB«n8 of the 'legislature are get
ting very tired of th6 $2 a day pay
they now receive under tho now
law.
It takes, spirit and ouergy to win
in a fight with odds agaiust her, but
Sherman exhibited theso two re
quisiteS aud thus fur is on top.
Keep tho ball moving until it Iiíih
gathered up all thd moss left in a
hundred mitos of the city and carriod
it away forever.
Tiie now buildings in courso of
erection and just completed iu Slier
man in valuation will reach $'200,000.
Can you say as much littlo sis?
The Rjwisteh has f
collod the attention
most people and especially visitors
judge a place by the external evidonce
oí a home confidence. When there
is a lack of confidence on tbo part of
property holders and business men
strangers smell a mouse and thoy do,
not care to locate in a place where
there seems to bo no desiro to show
up the city's merits. -
About this timo whon the "boom"
is full upon Sherman there are arriv
ing by almost every train prospectors
and investors upon whom it is desir
able that tho city makos a favorite
impression with the hope that such
visitors may be disposed to locate
here. As matters now stand not only
may important personages coma nnd
go with probably littlo or no attention,
but even committees appointed for a
specific purpose and whoso good will
is greatly to be desired to perforin
their duty toward Sherman niuch in
ignorance of what the city is in detail,
and departing, fall into tho hands of
other cities ono of which reaps a rich
benefit. Tho point of this lies iu the
application of it.
The Register would modestly sng
gest to tho citizens of Sherman, the
utility and propriety of forming a
central committee or business club,
the sole purpose of which should bo
that proper visitors to this city bo
judiciously looked aftor, and the ad
vantages of tbo placo pointed out.
A fund to cover all nocesaary expen
ses could well be contributed by the
city owners bore composing such a
club, and at any co t it would pay.

A Washington dispatch says Man

The Dallas News of Sunday last

pages and in tho mattor of news and

It seems a little singular that tho
