Art. 4422. It shall be the duty of
all overseers of roads to measure such
parts of roods as are within their re.-

Art. 4424. Wben a mils post or in-
dex board shall be removed or de-
faced by any moans whatavor, the
overseer shall cause the same to be
replaced immediately by another
marked as tbo original one.
It is a woll known fact that this is
uot dono, and also great incon
voniences have been occasioned by
failure to do so. The bourd picked
the matter up us one of impórtanos
and decided to, push it through, and
by request the Rkuistkii is asked to
cull the attention of all road ovorseors
to the following provision of the road
law, which tt punuily for a failure
to comply with the above three
sections:

the board who recently spent somo time
in visititing the principal prisons of St.
