Sixteen TSU's attend convention
Thirteen drama students and
three TSU faculty members
attended a United States Institute
of Theater Technology and Texas
Educational Theater Association
convention held Feb 5-7 in Corpus
Chnsti. It was the first time in
three years these organizations
have held a combined con-
vention
The students attended
workshops in plastics, make-up,
rigging, mime, lighting, sound,
children's theater, handicapped
theater, acting and directing.
Board members of USITT and
TETA also met. Dr. Mary Jane
Mingus, TSU drama professor, is
a board member of both
organizations. She is state
secretary of USITT and state
prlaywriting chairman for
TETA.
Students attending were

Senate discusses
plans
to renovate
The renovation of the old
women's gym was the main topic
of discussion at the Student
Senate meeting Monday, Feb. 9.
The proposed changes include
filling in the swimming pool and
making a dance floor with a patio
roof, taking down the chain-link
fence, putting a new roof on the
gym and purchasing a barbecue
pit and picnic furniture.
In other business, the senate
heard results of a survey of the
women's dorms The survey
committee also reported that
questionnaires are ready to be
released to dorm students con-
cerning visitation hours.
Deaw-Mike Ijeese told the
senate that the A&M Board of
Regents is investigating the
possibility of building new dorms
or renovating present ones A
decision is expected soon
A committee has been named
to investigate the problem of
getting use of gym facilities when
high school and junior high
students who use their parents'
faculty ID's to use the gym.

Faculty attending were Mary
Jane Mingus, Jan Watson and

Livestock Team
places 11th
The TSU livestock judging
team, under supervision of Dr.
Stanley Westbrook, placed 11th
overall in a contest held in con-
junction with the Fort Worth Fat
Stock Show last week.
Timmy Steffens was third
overall in individual horse and
swine categories.
Other members of the team
were Jill Stutviil, Crystal Akers,
Robert Cowan, Kenny Motle and
Tracy I/emons

TSU students and faculty
members sponsored a poultry
judging contest at the Fort Worth
Fat Stock Show last Thursday.
Students and faculty donated
their time.
According to Dr. Edward
Fulton, contest superintendent,
there are approximately 2S0 high
schools involved.
Using this contest as a
recruiting device, Fulton scouts
for freshmen prospects,
TSU Dairy Team
gt>ts fourth
The TSU Dairy Judging Team
placed fourth overall in the dairy
judging contest at the Fort Worth
Stock Show last week.
Under the supervision of Joel
Hillen, the members placed as
follows: Date Caddell, fourth
high individual and second in
Brown Swiss; Gary Bowoin, 10th
high individual overall, and D W,
Settle, second in holstein
Cynthia Traweels was the other
member of the team competing
in the contest.
