Hot-damn, hallelujah, blow the horns, ana ring the
bells, TSC has won a game. Gotta give the boys a lot of
credit, they've lost about ten or fifteen games in a row and
I bet they're a happy bunch now. If you were there you
couldn't help but feel proud and happy for the Texans.
• They've had to fight against the odds every game, but they
never gave up. .
On a cold, windy and otherwise miserable night (es-
pecially for Stephen F.) Tarleton finally won its first game
of the season, and its first in the Lone Star Conference.
Coach Taylor and his assistants, Mark Weaver, Larry Lee
Danny Schneider, Jerry Elledge and Lynn Odom, finally got
it all together, and they deserve a lot of credit. Not enough
can be heaped on these men, They have taken a bunch of
inexperienced freshmen, a few veteran starters, and whip-
ped them into a winning combination. It took time, but they
did it and I feel next year is going to be even better.
TSC really wanted this ball game and I'm not gonna
say how hard-headed they were about it, but late in the
fourth quarter, Steve Davis became so excited he forgot
his helmet when he ran out to the offensive huddle after
Henderson had recovered a fumble. That cost TSC a time-
out while he ran back to get it. Then when Brazzle inter-
cepted that last time, the fans and the players on the side-
line went wild. People were jumping up and down, all
extremely elated for the first time this year. Then the final
seconds ticked off and the game was over, the players lifted
Taylor on their shoulders and carried him off the field. It*
was a tremendous win for the vastly improved Texans. No&
if we can beat East Texas we'l 1 be number nine in the:
i conference. That's better then number tert - agreed. Now'
! let' 8- go on a safari and do a little Lion hunting, right
Texans?
