Board Approves
J-Tac Edit®m!$
The editorial page is probably the leasi read portion ox
any newspaper. Still, all newspapers cherish them as a path
to release the opinion of the 'editorial we.'.
Though few people are aware of the fact, the J-TAC
has an editorial board. Before any editorial can be pub-
lished, it must pass the approval of this board. The J-TAC
board consists of the editor, assistant editor and faculty
advisor, as well as two staff members appointed by the
editor and advisor. In this'case, staff representatives are
Christi Young and Monte Gripp.
Editorials criticize this bad, support the good, inter-
pret the misunderstood,; and reveal problems in hope of
change. Not all editorials are pleasant, but if freedom of
press is to exist, a little unpleasantness must also seep in.

J-Tac Adopts New
Campus Club Column
Recently the J-TAC office has been faced with com-
plaints, It seems that "a few of the departmental clubs have
felt left out and discriminated against because their meet-
ings haven't been announced in print.
In reply to these complaints, the J-TAC has adopted
a new column entitled 'Campus Clubs,' Each week we
will publish a list of departmental club meetings.
The J-TAC reporters will be unable to search out
each individual club to keep a schedule of the meetings,
so we ask that each club inform the J-TAC office of their
meetings.
This new column does not affect social clubs in any
manner. We have relinquished publication of the schedule
of social club meetings in 'What's Happening* because
members of the clubs are usually aware of their weekly
meetings.
Departmental clubs are asked to turn in a schedule
including time, place and other details of their meetings
by Thursday at noon. •

; Now that Tarleton is in iu.. swing, I decided that*
t finally I could write you a more-interesting-than-usual:
• letter. So much has been happening I don't even know where:
• to begin! •
i I guess I'll start with registration. It was so nice to:
; walk into the Student Center lobby and be able to actually:
J move around without fear of being trampled by long lines:
• of students. I understand that the pre-registration program;
: was initiated by the Student Senate. My heartiest congratu-:
: lations to them for developing such a time-saving device.;
; There's a rumor jthat pre-fegistration won't be used for the;
; fall semester. I: sure hope the Senate can do something:
• about this. '

■ Have you heard about the Texans' basketball team?:
• Those guys have really been working hard to build Tarle-;
: ton's athletic image. One of the players who has impressed*
• me most is Tyler Tull, a junior transfer student from Corpus:
• Christi. Not only is he boasting a ten-point average per •'
: game, and an equally impressive rebounding average, but:
• he's also good looking! '
• ' ; . *
! Tarleton also has a female basketball team, this semes- :
• ter. The girls have fyeen practicing since November for j
•their first gamb tonight against Hardin-Simmons. If you've ;
t never seen girls play basketball, be sure not to miss the :
: game. You'll be surprised how well these fems can play. ;
•
* ' •
i I don't think too many people know it, but one of the :
i Texan football boys, Vance Jones, will be working for :
• a spot on a professional football team next year. Vance has ;
ireceived an offer from the San Antonio Toros for next sear •
•son, '
: « :
i Are you planning to go to any of the smokers this *
• week? It's a good chance to meet some of the 'big men on ;
' campus,' and an equally good chance to meiet the girlfe in ;
; the sister clubs after their teas. j
• .1
; Well, believe it or not, I've run out of things to say. :
i Write back soon; my mailbox is dying of malnutrition. •
Love, •
