With Farewell Party
Forse'eing a decrease of the first

ship society, the members decided
to g'ive themselves a farewell party
otherwise known as The Ex-Sehol-
arship Society Banquet recently.
This gala-party was held at Beth
Garrett's house. Incidentally if you
ever want a wonderfully delicious
homecooked meal, get an invitation
to the Garrett's for dinner. The
Scholarship Society voted Mrs.
Garrett S'tephenville's Best Cook.

Cadet Colonel Oren Ellis Jl',,

with his photographer friend from

most digified table. Anyone with-

ken, and ice cream and all that
went between these courses, there
was a sight misunderstanding
about who was to give the after
dinner speech, Dr. Grant or Burn-
aby Munson. Myrna settled the ar-
gument by suggesting that they
both deliver their speeches alter-
nating a line at a time. It didn't
go off quite as expected for Burn-
aby. But it did provide a delightful
ending at any rate.
Much to the delight of several
of the. participants' of the party,
a .few of them found after final
grades "came out that there woukl
be a few seniors in the society
this next term.
PLOWBOYS LOSE
47-84 TO RAMS -
San Angelo's mighty Rams
downed the Tarleton State College
Plowboys 84-47 in a Pioneer Con-
ference basketball game played in
the Gymnasium last Saturday
night. The victory gave San An-
gelo a one game lead over idle
Arlington State and dropped the
iPlowboys into clear possession "of
the cellar with a 0-3 won, lost
record.
The Rams' Glen Lewallen was
the high scorer for the game, net-
ting 28 points to retain his spot in
Strebeck was high for Tarleton
with 28. 1
The game was much closer than
the score indicates and was hard-
fought throughout. Score at half-
time was 32-27 in favor of San
Angelo.

KNIGHTS SUBDUE
DALLAS FENCERS
In their second team meet of the
season, the Tarleton Fencing Team
won an overwhelming victory over
the Dallas Y. M. C. A. Living up to
past records, the Knights' Parker
Nunley and Frank Schulte com-
bined their efforts to beat Dallas
5-2 in foil, 5-0 in epee, and 5-0 in
sabre.
George Bealdey, the coach of the
team, was undefeated in the open
foil competition, and consequently
won first place, giving him the.
right to appear in the divisional
finals to be held at Lubbock this
spring. Parker Nunley also earned
the right to appear in the finals by
placing fourth in the open foil
match.
This victory ties the division
with Texas Tech and Tarleton
holding the leading slots. Each
team has one loss except Texas
Tech, and if the TSC Knights suc-
ceed in beating the "West Texans,
they will autdmatically become the
division champions.
EXAMS DEPLETE
TEAM ROSTERS
Coach C, M, "Dutch" Flory is
moaning the blues this week with
sufficient reason. The mid-term ex-
ams seem to have sadly depleted
his tennis and golf teams. Only
two golfers remain to defend the
Pioneer Conference team cham-
pionship which Jimmy Howard and
Lee Wise brought home last year.
They are Ferd Slocum and Bobby
Shroyer.
■Coach Flory, in regards to the
defense of the tennis crown, said,
"It's hard to take an inexperienced
team and get them ready to1 win in
so short a time."
Only five boys are now listed as
regular tennis trainees. They are:
Joe Ogden, James Gibson, Fred
Johnston, Clarence Farrav, and
Billy Wilson. The team will be
strengthened by Tommy Hudspeth
and James Graig when basketball
season ends.
