“Bubbie” Griffith, Sr. was
born April 26, 1919 in
Panola County, Texas to the
marriage of Wyatt Greer
and Ethel Heaton Griffith.
One of seven children, he ■
was raised in the Mt. Bethel
community and was
schooled in the Mt. Bethel 1
and Gary schools. • Mr.
Griffith married Jo Ann
Cobb on September 21,
1969 in Ferriday, Louisiana
and together they spent 39
years raising their children
in a loving Christian home.
He was a member of
Eastside Baptist Church in
Gary and was dedicated to
his work in the church. Mr.
Griffith was the former
Sunday school superinten-
dent in Ridgecrest,
Louisiana. Bubbie enjoyed
his past time fishing and
gardening. Preceded in
death by his parents, three
brothers, one sister, daugh-
ter, Julie Goodman, and
grandson, Joshua Goodman.
Survivors include loving
wife: Jo Ann Griffith, of
Gary; children: Ritter
Griffith and wife, Lavetta,
of Lufkin, Ruth Ann Smith,
of Gary, Bill Griffith and
wife, Casey, of Gary< Jeffery
Goodman and wife, Ann, of

of the Old Center
Community of Panola
County, Texas, were held at
10 a.m. on Tuesday,
February 24, 2009, at
Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro.
Dale Reed officiating.
Interment followed in Old
Center Cemetery. The fami-
ly received friends from 5 to
7 p.m. on Monday at the
funeral home. Mrs.
Hildebrand passed away on
Saturday morning, February
21, 2009 in Shreveport.
Johnelle Marie Boutte
Hildebrand was born on
July 30, 1932 in Houston,
Texas to John T. and Ruth
Wameke Boutte. She loved
to cook. Mrs. Hildebrand
moved to Panola County
from Dallas in 1993. She
was of the Catholic faith.
Mrs. Hildebrand is sur-
vived by one son, Mike
Hildebrand and wife Tracy
of Carthage; one daughter,
Connie Norris and husband
Mike of Old Center; two
brothers, Howard Minton
and wife Donna of Virginia
and Brad Ross and wife Pat
of Longview; four grand-
children, Aaron Boyce of
Old Center, Heather
Hildebrand of Tyler, Curtis
Norris of Arkansas, and
Hannah Hildebrand of
Carthage; and a special
friend, Linda Snow of Old
Center. Numerous cousins,
other relatives, and many
friends also survive Mrs.
Hildebrand.
Serving as pallbearers

Ross, Josh Ross, Kevin
McAlister, Curtis Norris,
and Marvin Snow.

Buck, 65, of Carthage,
Texas, formerly of
Texarkana, died Sunday,
February 22, 2009 in
Carthage. He was born
October 8, 1943 in Burnet,
Texas. He was a retired
radial department manager
with Cooper Tire and
Rubber
Company, of the Baptist
faith and was a member of
the National Guard. He was
a Little League coach and
was a football and basket-
ball fanatic. He was preced-
ed in death by his father,
Charlie Lee Buck.
He is survived by his
wife, Belinda Buck; sons,
Johnny Buck, Danny Buck
and wife Natasha and Brian
Buck and wife Stefanie;
daughters, Cathy Hogg and
husband Richard, Diana
Hathorn and husband Jason,
and Madison Buck; mother,
Midlred Buck, Brother,
Bobby Buck; sisters, Linda
Hall, Cherl Osteen and
Jaren Johnson; thirteen
grandchildren, three great
grandchildren, numerous
nieces, nephews, and a host
of friends.

be held 10:00 a.m.

Carter was bom on August
30, 1913 in Cass County,
Texas to Leslie Loyd
Cameron and Mary Lucy
Pierce Cameron. She mar-
ried John Ernest Carter and
he preceded her in death on
September 30, 1979: She
lived in the Galloway
Community for 80 years
and was a member of the
Deadwood United
Pentecostal Church. She
was also preceded in death
by one son, James (Jay)
Carter; one grandson, Larry
Carter; five brothers; one
sister; one son-in-law; and
one daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Carter is survived
by three sons. Buddy Carter
and wife Mattie Grace of
Paxton, Charlie Carter and
wife Sue of DeBerry, and
Daniel Carter and wife
Jeanette of Galloway; three
daughters, Mary Jones of
Panola; Connie May and
husband Bruce of Galloway,
and Shirley Broadus and
husband Richard Gean of
Galloway; sister-in-law,
Winnie Haney of
Longview; 24 grandchil-
dren; 40 great-grandchil-
dren; and 15 great-great
grandchildren. Numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins,
other relatives, and a host of
friends also survive Mrs.
Carter.

Mrs. Ward died on
February 23, 2009 in a
Nacogdoches hospital. She
was bom June 7, 1917 in
Gary to the late J. Hugh
Pike and Lavada Sessum
Pike, the nineth of twelve
children.
Mrs. Ward was a home-
maker and a devoted wife,
mother and grandmother.
She loved her Lord and
Savior, family and friends.
She was a member of
Timpson Missionary
Baptist Church. She was a
wonderful cook, especially
good were her pecan pies,
and she always made sure
there was something to eat
at mealtime. She was an
excellent seamstress and
made some very pretty
dresses from old cloth and
feed sacks for her girls
when they were growing up.
She always took pride in her
home and enjoyed garden-
ing. She grew and sold
some of the prettiest vegeta-
bles. 1
Mrs. Ward is survived by '
her husband of almost 70
years, L.M. Ward; daugh-
ters and sons-in-law: ’
