my parent's land in the country to camp-out and
work on creative writing whenever I come home.
It's strange but I still think of that small broken
down trailer surrounded by an endless pasture of
mesquite as home. The very mention of the word
home brings to mind images of wild jackrabbits,
tiny bugs, and the cool summer breeze blowing
across the tall mesquite bushes. It is in that envi-
ronment that I write some of my best works. I have
always felt safe there. A kind of security I can't
seem to find living in a city. Yes Dorothy, there
really is no place like home.
I have my notebook with plenty of blank pages,
my new pen, ice cold Corona, my pack...Where is
my pack? There it is, everything is ready to go
now. What am I going to write about tonight? I
need to finish just one poem tonight and that will
be good. Well, I guess I'll just let it flow and see
what comes out. I never know how to start; that's
so frustrating. Okay there we go. Good keep it go-
ing. Where's my lighter?
I've always loved writing, even when I was
just a little kid before I knew how to spell. Well I
still can't spell. It's always been a kind of medita-
tion for me, a way to say what I want to without
actually saying anything. It's my escape. Yet I just
do it for me. I hate it when someone reads what
I've placed on a page. It's mine and I don't like to
share. When I write I ramble on sometimes, and it
seems I have a touch of A.D.D .
This really sucks; this is not what I wanted to
write about at all. I forgot how beautiful the stars
look out here, they seem so clear. And it's so quiet
out here, a nice change from living in town. There
are no distractions at all. There we go that's what14
