THE GALLEON
and fingered playfully the leaf of paper that bore these words:
"Rain
Falling lightly from the grey vastness of heaven,
Like the tears of stars,
Weeping,

Or the bruised petals of a rose."

WOODROW WILSON
He has passed on, the restful arms of Death
Have caught him up, and borne his soul away
Through shadowy portals, to a newer day.
The World's First Citizen, with failing breath,
Said calmly, "I am ready," and the boat
Black sailed, that waited on the waters still,
Moved off into the shadows gray and chill,
On the inevitable tide afloat.
He, who in life declared no truce with aught
He deemed unworthy or unwise, thus spoke
Facing the end with that fine faith he taught.
And the Creator, with a last deft stroke,
Finished! this masterpiece of His great art
To live forever in the Nation's heart.
