Hold 25th Reunion

the late Mr. and Mrs R. H. Mc-
Niell met at Pelham Park Sun-
day for their 25th annual reunion.
Mr and Mrs. McNiell were the

LEE BOYD MONTGOMERY
Lee Boyd Montgomery, Jr. band
director of Bowie schools, is mav-
ing this week to Canyon where
he will assume duties as band
director of Canyon High School
in the fall.
Director of the Bowie bands
for one year, Montgomery was
successful in building the Bowie
Band to 59 strong, and this band
as well as the Junior High Band
won several awards under his
directorship.
He will teach in the West Tex-
as State College band school in
July aqd will attend classes at
the college the last semester.
Canyon High School has 600
students and will be in class AAA
in the fall.
Mr. Montgomery, his wife,
Gwen, and three-year-old son,
resided at 209 Lamb *St. while
living in Bowie.

Mrs. Gordon Heard, celebrated
his eleventh birthday in fine
style Saturday with a marathon
birthday party that started a< 2

Bobby and 12 friends first
trooped out to the bowling alley
and put king size dents in the
lanes there for fou? hours. (It
took the four hours to give each
of the far-from-accomplished
youngsters their turn at the
pins.)
Undaunted, the caravan re-
turned to Bowie and started a
weiner roast that gradually
turned into a baseball game on
the Heard lawn. The game went
on until parents of thq guests be-
came conscience-stricken and
moved to the relief of Warden
and Mrs. Heard.
In on the fun were Don and
Warren Ayres, Kent Deaver,
Sonny and Larry flias, Charles
Crumpler, Danny Jackson, Whit
Coffield. Odie and Joe Phelps,
