Annual Cof C banquet Saturday nigh
Dr. Thomas K. Kim,
president of McMurry College
of AbUene, will be the featured
speaker at the annual banquet
of the Canadian Chamber of
Commerce Saturday night at
City Auditorium.
Dr. Kim, a native of Shanghai
China, came to the United
States in 1948 to attend Berea
College in Kentucky, and has
been in this country since that
time. He became an American
citizen in 1960.
He was named as the eighth
president of McMurry College
(and the second layman to hold
that post) in 1970; going to
McMurry from Texas Tech
University at Lubbock where
he had been a member of the
faculty and Chairman of the
School of Business Administra-
tion.
Dr. Kim holds degrees from
Berea College, Indiana Univer-
sity, and Tulane University, all
in economics, and an honorary
doctorate of Humanities from
Southwestern University.
He is an active Methodist
layman, and is author of several
books.
With him from McMurry Dr.
Kim will bring "Morning Star",
a talented group of young
singers from the college who
will also be featured on the
Chamber of Commerce banquet
program.
Dr. David Blackburn, chair-
man of Fine Arts at McMurry,
is the director and arranger for
the group; and accompanists

City Auditorium by Bob
Norman. Tickets are on sale at
$5.00 per person, and will be
available at the auditorium

begins at 7:30 o'clock Saturday
night.
Climaxing the program will
be the 12th annual Citizens of
the Year awards presentations.
Retiring Chamber of Com-
merce President Tom Abraham
will make the presentation of
plaques to the "Woman of the
year" and "Man of the Year" for
1974.
Joe Brock will be Master of
Ceremonies for the banquet.
The Rev. James Holman,
pastor of the First United
Methodist Church of Canadian,
will give the invocation.
Special musical entertain-
ment by 'Morning Star' will
follow the serving of the dinner.
Joe Brock will introduce
guests, and incoming President
of the Chamber of Commerce
Lonnie Donaldson will intro-
duce his directors and officers:

the Methodist Church, who is

Trustees of McMurry College,
