PARAGOULD, Ark.: —Arnold
Pylkas, assistant professor of
physical education at Harding
College since 1972, has resigned
to become Executive Director of
Children’s Homes of Paragould.
His appointment will be effec-
tive June 1.
ministration from Wayne State
University.
Of his new appointment, Pyl-
kas said, “I feel it will be an
opportunity to put my adminis-
trative degree back to work.
Working at the grass roots level
of aiding families through
troubled times will afford me
the opportunity to do evangelis-
tic work through serving Christ
with hopes of strengthening
families and in turn strengthen-
ing the church.”
The Children’s Homes began
in 1956 as a part of the work of
Seventh and Mueller Church of
Christ in Paragould. The work
at first was a cottage style form
of group care. This was expand-
ed in 1969 to include adoptions,
foster care and group care.
Seven counselors work with
child caring and family helping
programs in Paragould, New-
port, Searcy, North Little Rock,
Camden, DeQueen and Fort
Smith. Two hundred twenty
children were in care in 1977.
The program now covers much
of Arkansas.

Keith Robinson, who heads up
the NEW-LIFE work for Mili-
tary Parkway made this com-
ment about Ridgell’s coming:
“This is an answer to months of
prayer and searching. We be-
lieve that Steve has the unique
abilities for this type of mission
work which requires a multipli-
city of talents, from writing and
speaking, to organizing cam-
paigns and doing personal follow
up work. Most of all, Steve and
his wife, Marsha, have a passion
for souls. They are leaving a
congregation that loves and

come to work with us in this
mission outreach even though
all their personal support has
not been secured. We count it a
great honor to be associated
with people of that kind of
commitment.”

We ask God and all our brethren
to help us in prayer in order the
church may become strong in
Parla.
Crowds in night services sur-
passed 15,000. This year, two
services were conducted simul-
taneously where cars parked in
the center of the Fairgrounds,
and walked either direction—to
the Pavilion, with 9,100 seats, or
to Expo-1, which had been set up
for 7,500 people. And the night
speakers did a supurb job
speaking on “Our God is Alive”
(Charles Hodge, Fort Worth,
Texas), “A Going Church for a
Coming Lord” (G. P. Holt,
Indianapolis, Ind.), “More Than
Conquerors” (Richard Rogers,

Some 20,000 of them came.
From over forty states, and
from ten foreign countries, they
poured into Tulsa. They came in
cars and trucks. They came in
bus loads. They chartered air-
planes, and pulled their camp-
ers. They literally flooded Tulsa
to attend Tulsa’s third soul-win-

and “He Lives Within My
Heart” (Marvin Phillips, Tulsa,

More than 250 exhibits were
on hand showing “every good
work” from all over the world.
This was more than 50 exhibits
above the amount we’ve ever
had. It was literally a “World’s
Fair” of sharing of ideas to get
the “Work of Christ” done in an
effective manner.
Contribution taken up on Fri-
day night totaled $17,304.15. A
complete financial report is
available to any contributing
church or Christian. We are
grateful to God for such gener-
osity, and for such love and
soul-consciousness exhibited
during the entire weekend.
As best we can tell, approxi-
mately 75 souls were baptized
into Christ during the workshop.
About half of these were at the

Growing Third Annual Tulsa Workshop ’’Right Track
by Marvin Phillips Lubbock Texas) “Christ in
midnight. There were charter
bus drivers, restaurant workers,
and all sorts of contacts led to
Jesus by those who came for
just that purpose; to be taught
and motivated to be “soul
winners”.
Without a doubt, soul winning
workshops are on the right
track. To be sure we made our
share of mistakes. Anything that
man has anything to do with,
will show flaw. But anything
done in the name of the Lord,
and is true to His Will, will show
power and success. '
We thank all those who helped
in so many ways, make this
workshop a success. We thank
those of you who attended from
all over the world. And we
cheerfully invite you to the
fourth International Soul Win-
ning Workshop in Tulsa, March
22-24, 1979.
We hope to see you there!
