DEAR ABBY: I recently visited our daughter who has 8
2-month-old baby girl. I took some pictures of the baby; one
showed the mother bathing the baby.
After returning home I took the pictures to a longtime
friend and neighbor woman who has never had any children.
She looked at the picture of the baby being bathed aad said,
“You should not be showing this around. It is pornography!"
Abby, I was shocked, and told her so. How can a picture of
a naked baby be pornography? An innocent little baby’s
body is a beautiful sight, and there is nothing dirty or por-
nographic about it.
Am 1 wrong? Or could such a picture really be considered

If any of you have ever
worked with ceramics you
must know how fragile that
stuff is! Well, we know now
too. You have to be careful,
but we are learning. And
thank you, Mrs. Freeman, for
being so patient with us.
The Dixieland Band came to
see us and as usual, they were
great. Their enthusiasm is
always contagious. That same
evening the. Senior Citizen
Singers came to lead us in a
time of singing and fellowship.
J.R. Taylor and a group
from Bethel Temple Baptist
came for Sunday afternoon
. services. The residents really
appreciate these people. It is a
small church’but what they
lack in size they make up in
love. Thanks also to Bennie
Marney who came over to
play the piano.
We always hate to say good-
bye, but are very happy for
Orene Meador, who has
recovered enough to return
home. Everyone wishes her
the very best. ,
Welcome to Melvin
Chandler, Lila Redwine and
The trees will be dug bare-root and ready for you to
pick up an the 26th. Hay and water will be furnished to

Being one who appreciatea humor, I read on and found it
to be well worth reading. With the author’s permiooiea, I
quote:
“A CHILD'S TEN COMMANDMENTS TO PARENTS
11 My hands are small; please don't expect perfection
whenever 1 make a bed, draw a picture, er throw a ball, My
legs are short; please slow down so that I can keep up with
you.
21 My eyes have not seen the world as yours have; please
let me explore safely: don't restrict me unnecessarily.
3) Housework will always be there. I'm only little for
such a short time - please take time to explain things to me
about thia wonderful world, and do so willingly.
4) My feelings are tender; please be sensitive to my
needs; don't nag me all day long. I You wouldn't want to be
nagged for your inquisitiveness.I Treat me as you would like
to be treated.
51 1 am a special gift from God; please treasure me as God
intended you to do, holding me accountable for my actions,
giving me guidelines to live by, and disciplining me in a lov-
ing manner.
61 I need your encouragement, but not your praise, to
grow. Please go easy on the criticism; remember, you can
criticize the things I do without criticizing Me.
7) Please give me the freedom to make decisions concern-
ing myself. Permit me to fail, so that I can learn from my
mistakes. Then someday 1’11 be prepared to make the kind of
decisions life requires of me.
8) Please don't do things over for me. Somehow that
makes me feel that my efforts didn't quite measure up to
your expectations. 1 know it's hard, but please don’t try to
compare me with my brother or my sister.
9) Please don’t be afraid to leave for a weekend together.

crafts. The one big problem is
that we have no way to display
them to either sell or show.
Things tend to get something
broken or missing when left
out in the open and when they
are in the work room no one
ever really gets the chance to Gertrude
see them.
Therefore, if someone has a
glass, display case that they
don’t know what to do with, I
believe we might be able to
put it to good use, especially
with the ceramic work that
we’ll be completing very soon.
We’re always anxious to see
new faces. Maybe yours will
be one of them this week.

DEAR READERS: Every week I received mere newly
published books than I can lift, much less read. But one little
paperback caught my eye: “Parenthood Without
Hassels—Well, Almost,” but Dr. Kevin Leman.
It Was dedicated to “My high school counselor, who told
me, ‘Leman, with your disciplinary record and grades in this
school, I couldn't get you into reform school.' ”

Frankincense was popular
with the ancient Romans. They
used it in religious ceremonies
and burned it in funeral pyres.
The Roman writer Pliny the El-
der reported that a whole
year's production of Arabian
frankincense was used at the
cremation of Poppaea, wife of
the Emperor Nero.
