Vows Exchanged
•Mary Lou Woods became
the bride cf Bruce Tabor
Friday in a candle light cere-
mony in the Central Bap-
tist Church.
The bride is the daughter
of Ilev. and Mrs. James
Woods. MY. and Mrs. S- S.
Tabor of Newoomerstown,
Ohio, are the parents of the
bridegroom.
The bride's father read
vows at Central Baptist
Church. He was assisted by
the Rev. Gary Lawrence of
Clyde. Miusic was by Jeana
Thomas, organist, and David
Ellison, soloist.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a peau
de soie gown with ehantilly
lace bodice and train. Skirt
had an organza overlay. A
seed pearl crown held her
veil. She carried white gladi-
oli and red carnations on a
Bible.
Donni Ellison of Asper-
mont was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Letha Col-
frxm of Aspermont and Mary
Ingram of Wichita Falls.
Junior bridesmaid was Rhonda
Woods, sister of the bride.
They wore red gowns and
matching pillbox hats with
circular veils. Their flowers
were white carnations.
Carolyn Douglass was
girl. Jerry Clay Douglass ring
bearer.
Mike Jones was best man,
.Johnny Clay and Jeff Hill
groomsmen. Lanny Woods
was junior groomsman.

Holds Christmas
Social Here Friday
Members of the Mary
Martha Sunday School Class
enjoyed a Christmas Social
at the First Baptist Church
Friday evening. Honored
guests were husbands. Special
guests were Rev. and Mrs.
Fred Thomas, Mrs. Jean
Burch of Wichita Falls and
Jerry Wayne Davis.
An old fashioned Christmas
dinner was served buffet
style. Walter Ivy asked the
blessing.
Mrs. Carl W. Duncan gave
the devotional of "One Soli-
tary life" by Fred Leach.
A. E. Ball offered the pray-
er for Christmas to have a
Christ-centered meaning for
all persons this season. Four
large boxes of fruit were ta-
ken to aTea Nursing Homes.
A box was sent to our adopt-
ed girl.
Members attending were
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dal-
ton, Mr. and Mrs. Ivy, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Suter, Mr. and
Mrs. Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Elam
Griffith, Mr. and Mrs. Wade
Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Roger?, Mr. and Mrs. John
Kidd, and Mmes. Duncan,
M. C. Elkins, J. B. Lee and
Carl Roberson.
Surprisingly
enough, the British
Victorians were the
folks who intro-
duced the custom of
kissing under the
mistletoe at Christ-
mastime. Who says
they were strait-
laced ?
Guy Walker and Joe Stubbs
seated guests. Danny Woods
and Terry Lawlis, both of
Hamlin, lighted candles.
The bride attends Asper-
mont High School and is
employed by Kenady Drug.
The bridegroom is a gradu-
ate of Aspermont High School
and is employed by Jerry
Douglass.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D- Clay
and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Douglass were hosts for the
rehearsal dinner in the fel-
lowship hall of the church.
Phoenix Club Holds
Christmas Social
Tuesday Evening
The Phoenix Club met at
Hickman's Party Room for
their Christmas social Tues-
day evening. Hostesses were
Mmes. B. G. Cook Jr., George
Kenady Sr.. Wesley Rbbbins,
Carl W. Duncan, M. C.
Myers, Arnold Wallace, Mar-
vin Lott Jr., Elmer Ward,
Kenneth Campbell, Bill
Lackey and Roger Foil.
The dinner tables were
laid with holiday red cloths
and decorated with fir ever-
green, gold arrangements
and candles. Place cards
were picture post cards of
the wood carvings of Leo-
nardo's The Last Supper,
in the Upper Room Chapel,
Nashville, Teun. Each bore
a prayer-poem by Mrs. Dun-
can. Mrs. M. C. Myers asked
the blessing.
The meaning of Christmas,
"That Without Love, There
Is Nothing" was emphasized

Mis Odell Myers, leader,
presented Mrs. Raymond Marr
v;ho read a Christmas letter
by Bishop Remington. That
the theme of the program,
"Love of Others Creates its
Own Beauty," be further en-
hanced, Mrs. Myers told the
beautiful story of "Pullers
of The Stars" by Mary Lflu
Lacy. Mrs. Robbins asked
that all join her in saying
good-bye to the year of 1970
as a club, by saying the Col-
lect as a prayer.
A large box of gifts was
sent to the Wichita Falls
State Hospital.
There was laughter and
joy as members exchanged
gifts from under a lovely
Wolly tree.
Members present were
Mmes. Ward, Ted Jennings,
C. W. Stewart, Odell Myers,
M. C. Mlyers, Marvin Lott Jr.,
Time to wish everyone a
very merry Christmas season!

25th Anniversary

A reception honoring Mr.
tand Mrs. Herbert Vahlen-
kamp on their 25th Wedding
Anniversary was held in the
Old Glory Son's of Herman
Ksl! Saturday avoninc Dec.
12.
Mrs. Gren Baldree regis-
tered the guests at the recep-
tion. Mrs, Lewis Crozine
served the cake. Mrs. Eugene
Vahlenkamp end Mrs. Virgil
Vahlenkamp opened a**i dis-
played the gifts.
Guests were registered
from Abilene, Denton, Dal-
las, I^a Grange, Houston,
Aspermont, Lubbock, Wein-
ert, Hamlin, Haskell, Law-
toil, Okla., Stamford, Sager-
ton and Old Glory.
Mr. and! Mrs. Vahlenkamp
married in La Grange
Dec. 30, 1945.
They have two children,
a daughter, Mm. Larry
(Nancy) Brown, presently
living at Corsicana, but will
soon be moving to Ft. Leon-
ard Wood, Mo., where her
husband will be stationed af-
ter Jan. 3, and a son, Mar-
vin, who is home on leave
from Ft. Ord, Calif. He will
report to Oakland, Calif, on
Jan. 1, for duty in Viet Nam.
The Vahlenkamps have two
grandchildren.

Annual Christmas
Luncheon Dec. 16
The Annis Sunday School
class, of the First United
Methodist Church met in the
home of Mrs. Fred Dalby,
on Dec. 15, for their Annua!
Christmas Luncheon. There
were 14 members present
including Mmes. Fred Dalby,
Norene Dalby, Opie Gibson,
Sally McAfee, Ellen Stewart,
Ruth Turner, Mae Payne,
Ei'fie Oiertel, Kathlyn Lack-
ey, Velma Davis, Louise
Lawrence, Fern Robertson,
Gertie Martin, and Bonnie
Lanier. There also was one
visitor Mary Ward.
After the luncheon there
was a small business meeting
including a report by the
president Norene Dalby.
Velma Davis, chairman of
the group project for Gold
Bond Stamps reported on
the progress of the project
to earn chairs for the fellow-
ship hall.
Oiristmas gifts were ex-
changed.
