Christmas Tree Is Special
The Christmas tree used
in the sanctuary of the First
United Methodist Church of
Aspcjrmont is no ordinary
tree. Sixty-five Ghrismons
were used to decorate the
tree. This represented many
hours of work by many mem-
bers of the church. Each
class of the Sunday School
presented a Chrismon at the
Christmas program held last.
Sunday evening, as a high-
light of the service.
Chrismon, is a combina-
tion of parts of two words,
CHRISt and MONogram. It
is just that, a monogram of
Christ. These symbols were
very important to the early
church, and were found in of faith and love.

All Chrismons are made in
combinations of white and
gold — white, the liturgical
color for Christmas, refers
to our Lord's purity and per-
fection; gold to His majesty
nnd glory, Christ as the Light
of the World is proclaimed
by the use- of tiny white
lights on the tree.
The church will be open
from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
