Nature imitates herself. A grain thrown
into good ground brings forth fruit: a
principle thrown into a good mind
brings forth fruit. Everything is created
and conducted by the same Master,—the
root, the branch, the fruits,—the
principles, the consequences.

Brackettville, TX-As clocks
in Texas roiled over to the year
2000, the new millennium found
electric co-op employees at
their desks with nothing to do.
Like their members across the
state, they sat in light-filled
rooms where telephones
buzzed with dial tones, televi-
sion sets beamed down revelers
across the globe, and comput-
ers hummed in perfect health.
But there was one critical
difference. When the time
came, these co-op employees
raised their glasses of non-
alcoholic champagne and soft
drinks not merely to toast a new
year, but to acknowledge that
all the long months of prepara-
tion for Y2K had paid off. Four
days later, Eleanor Miller. Direc-

“I would like to announce
that I will be seeking the office
of Sheriff of Hudspeth County
in the upcoming March 14,
2000 election.
As an experienced Peace
Officer I will provide the
citizens of Hudspeth County a
Sheriff’s Department with
quality leadership and
impartial law enforcement. As
a graduate of Sierra Blanca
High School and receiving my
commission as a Texas Peace
Officer in 1984 at the El Paso
County Sheriff’s Training
Academy. I have
accomplished a great deal in
the law enforcement
profession. During the past
several years having served
as a Deputy Sheriff in Ft.
Stockton, where I have been
directly involved with criminal
investigations as well as all
civil process with the
Department. Prior to that I
was Chief Deputy in Marfa,
and was directly responsible
for 29 employees, having
successfully increased the
Jail’s revenue from $1,270.00
to an excess of $57,000.00
per month. I was able to
salvage many needed jobs
and implement public inmate
projects for the communities
in the county.
My goal for the Hudspeth
County Sheriff’s Department
would be to create a positive
working department where all
employees would work for the
betterment of the County. As
proud parents of a 10-month
old son, Thomas Colton, Jane
and I would be privileged to
raise our son in a county that
would be safe for him and all
children.”
Your VOTE and SUPPORT
would be greatly appreciated,
