the green and two - putted
for a bogey the par 3 - 17th.
“It was my only bad shot
of the day,” he said.
His best finish on the tour
this year was a tie for seventh
place in the Magnolia Classic,
held in Hattiesburg, Miss., in
April Britton, 26 and a
resident of New York, birdied
seven holes to post his 64. His
best finish, after joining the
tour in 1980, was a tie for
sixth at Atlanta last year. So
far in 1982, Britton’s top
performance has been a tie
for 16th in the Inverrary
Classic in March.
Calvin Peete, who has won
two tournaments .this year
and ranks ninth on the PGA
earnings list, withdrew
Thursday because of an
injured knee, which he
twisted during last week’s
PGA.

squads Lynda Wright has announced that registration for
cheerleader try • outs will be Saturday, August 14 at
1:00 p.m. in front of the high school. Any girl in the 3rd
through 6th grade is eligible to try out. Registration
forms will be available and can be filled out at Lois
Cohen Realtors or Teds Locker Room this week if
Saturday’s registration time cannot be met.
Girls registering are required to attend 5 practice
sessions during the week of August 16. The first session
will be Monday from 5:30 • 7:00 p.m. and the following
sessions will be Tuesday through Friday from 5:30 *
6:30 p.m. All practice sessions will be held in front of
the high school and girls should wear shorts and tennis
shoes.
Cheerleader try - outs will be held Saturday, August
21 at 9:00 a.m. at the Optimist Club Football Field. Try
• outs will be judged by out -of-town cheerleaders.
Any girl in grades 3 through 6 who would like to be
an Optimist Cheerleader is urged to register for try -
