Institute of Texas Studies
The University of Texas, Austin, and the Texas State Historical Associa-
tion will sponsor an Institute of Texas Studies this summer. The institute is
scheduled to run from June 9 to June 22, 1974, and will offer an intensive,
interdisciplinary approach to the study of Texas from prehistoric times to
1865. The curriculum will be oriented toward history and social studies
teachers from junior and senior high schools. Scholar-teachers from the fields
of geography, anthropology, history, architecture, music, the pictorial arts,
and crafts, will constitute the faculty. Students will receive six hours of
graduate credit in history.
Meetings
The semi-annual meeting of the Association will be held October 18-19
in Victoria. The i975 annual meeting will be held March 6-8 in Austin.
The Fourth Biennial Reunion of Hood's Texas Brigade Association will
be held on the Hill Junior College campus Friday and Saturday, April I9
and 20, 1974. Major General Thomas Bishop, Adjutant General, Texas
National Guard, will be the featured speaker. Entertainment will include
Will Rogers films, band concerts, artillery and infantry drill competition
featuring reactivated Confederate and Federal units, and the reenactment
of a Civil War battle. For more information write to Confederate Re-

Accessions
The personal papers of Timothy Moore Stinnett, nationally distinguished
educator, have been given to the Texas A&M University Archives. Unique
to the collection are copies of hundreds of speeches made by Stinnett to
state, national, and international meetings of educators. Also included are
copies of most of the many articles and books Stinnett authored or edited
and a small amount of personal correspondence. Stinnett served with the
National Education Association during 1946-1966, and he earlier held
important posts in Arkansas's educational system. The collection will be
open to anyone interested when the processing of papers and preparation
of an inventory are completed.500
