Excitement was in the air during the annual
Spring meeting of the Hardin-Simmons University
Board of Young Associates.
On the wall was a bright yellow banner splashed
with purple lettering. Heralding a new and inventive
Campaign, the banner read faith for the Ftuare.
The Board waited eagerly for the results of a plancommittee with realistic figures and goals.
By April, the foundation was laid. As Mike stood to
make the official announcement, the Board members
anticipated a Campaign that would strongly impact
Hardin-Simmons. And they were not disappointed.
The three-fold Campaign, capitalizing on the distinctives
of the membership, aims ata gal of $3,795,000.Theafth fIor th FAinv

prospective students during the
Ipril Board meetingconceived last summer. Mike Hammack (class of
'85 and '89) and the BYA Executive Council, along
with the Campaign Committee, had been
thoughtfully and carefully creating a plan utilizing
the resources of the Board.
Time, energy, leadership, school loyalty and
dedication are hallmarks of the Board of Young
Associates. The Campaign planners took these
characteristics into account, assembling them into
an ingenious and achievable approach.
Board members received opportunities to make
pre-commitments, providing the CampaignCampaign will mn through December of 2001.
The cornerstone of the Campaign, and perhaps its
most creative component, is Student Recruitment.
Board members have pledged, thus far to recruit 125
students during the Campaigns duration, a number
that translates into approximately $3,750,000.
Members plan to serve as the primary recruiters
for prospective students, allowing Enrollment
Services to stretch their recruiting budget. In addition.
the University benefits from each new student at an
approximate rate of $30,000 per full-time four-year
