but they are all inon from a dis-

Now lot us suggest four men
any of whom would make a mag-
niiicent congressman for tho
Jumbo District namely Judgo
J. W. Tlramins. J. W. HIU Esq.
and Hon. W. A. Wright of San
Angelo and Hon Samuel G. Tay-
loo of Sonora. Now tho Kicker
stands ready to support any of
these four and any one of tho
number would represent this
district witli credit and distinct
ion and could securo the noini
nation if ho could be prevailed

POLITICAL SIGNS-
Editor Press:
Permit mo a small place in
your ino3timablo paper that I
may talk a little to tho people of
this congressional district most
whom have known mo and I them
for twenty years.
Heretofore wo havo had to
take a man from San Antonio as
tho democratic nominee owing
to the heavy vote being there
and demaudiug it. Fortunately
tho last legislature cut us loose
and tho grand west of Texas
may assort itself show tho
metal and talent wo have in West
Texas. I see occasionally llttlo
paragraphs floating around in
tho newspapers that Mr. So and
So would like to make tho race
and only ono has yet hoisted his
banner and paying stenogra-
phers to Hood us with lottors for
fear wo may not nnd him.
Fellow Democrats we ought
to select tho man without much
solicitation. Tho office ought
to seek tho man und had that
boon tho rule for the past forty
years tho people of tho United
States would not bo groaning
under trusts and corporations to
day. "Vigilanco is tho prico of
liberty;" vigilanco and industry
is tho price wo have to pay for
success in business and the se-
lecting of a democratic congress-
man for this district is our busi-
ness. We have't quite progressed to
tho point where we educate a
certain class to run our offices.
They should come from tho body
of tho people; and we being in
tho contor of population ought
to havo tho man. Wo want a
man of exporionco in making
laws and ono who has been In
the country for a long time. One
with a tongue to tell all of our
wants and tho backbone to
stand by a government by tho
pooplo and for tho poople.
"Equal rights to all and special
privi'iges to none" tho doctrino
announced by Jefferson in 1800
and exemplified by Monroe
Jackson and others for sixty
years when the Democracy fac
tionizod and tho Whigs ('mow
knothiugs)aud Abolitionists con-
centrated on Lincoln an un-
known man concentrating all
the opposition to Democracy.
From that day down to now
the Democracy lias been fac-
factionized; Greenbacks Popu-
lists Silver Republicans Silver
Democrats and gold Domocrats.
Now how hangs tho political
horizon? Look at Domocrats.
For 40 years tho opposition to
Republican -rulo and ruin and
special prlviliges to trusts and
corporations havo been divided.
But when Congress assembled
last December ana ttie roll was
called every member enrolled
as a Democrat or Republican.
The opposition to Republican
imperialism are together only
two parties.
Do you soo the point brother
Domocrats? "History repeats
itself." We may win in 1901.
Give us the right man for Con-
gress in this district a broad
minded man u man of legislative
experience aud whom the people
know has stood by them and
their rights for 20 years; and
we'll roll up sucli a majority as
will forevorsink tho Republicans
in this district into oblivion.
We havo got tho man in or
close o round Tom Green tho
contor of the district. Come
follow Democrats lot us marshal
forth In our county primaries;
make our full county tickets.
Send up delegates to our dis-
trict conventions and go into

If you tell her she's modest or tell her
Sho's vain
She'll giggte.
She heeds not the fact that it gives
you a pain -
That giggle.

Make speech that presents no occas-

Or even for smiling Iter answer will
bo
A giggle.
She runs to tho door when her Chaw-
Icy boy rings

While helping him take off his cold

She giggles.
When seated for sparking within the

Of dollar per gas on tho grate's cher-

She answers tho sugary tlilngi that

There's no provocation she doesn't
know why.
Just giggles.
She'll arch up her evebrows like back

If called to tho bier of a dead silont

She'd giggle;
If tip to tho great judgment bar sho

She'd think It was funny and shake
her fool head
. And giggle.
