or gives an interesting account
of tho attempted escape of Jim
Collins a prisoner whom Sheriff

tho lines to his mother who with
his sister was making tho trip
with him. tho prisoner jerked
tho lines from Mrs. Russell and
started the team at full speocJ.
Mrs. Russell caught hold of Col-
lin's hands and in tuoscuflle tho
horses ran into a troo top and
stopped. Collins thon jumped
out of tho hack and ran but the
sheriff being a pretty good run-
ner soon got withiu shooting- dis-

A Ballinger stockman has dem-
onstrated to hi9 satisfaction that
kerosene mixed with salt given
to cattle on the range will cause
them to shed every tick in a few
days and he says also that the
kerosene does not detor the cut-
tle In the least from taking the
salt. His method was to place a
sack of salt on the ground rip
one side of the sack open pour
the oil in the slit and over tho
sack. Ho tried this scheme two
or three times during the past
and found it worked to perfac-
lion every time. This is cortain-
ty a cheap and easdy applied
remedy and its importance is too
great to estimate if it is a succes
in every instance as it was in his
experiments. Pecan Valley

British stoctr raisers are nav
ing a hard struggle to meet tho
competition of this country
H.gh priced land and feed have
put them at a disadvantage aid
the result Is that the supply of
English home bred stock is
growing smaller each year while
the imports aro gradually
increasing. There is a sharp
controversy going on in tho
Enllsh press at present as to
what England would do for a
meat supply In event of war that
would cut off foreigu importa-
tions. Tho British public is
beginning to realize that it isn't
ships that rule tho world as
much as food supplies. Even
the campaign in South Africa
could not have been carried on
so successfully had it not been
for America's contributions of
meats to say nothing of horses
and mules.

tie on a woman's lips. It belies the pain
which Is tearing at the nerves. But the
eyes have no part in the laugU. Their
purple rings speak of suffering. There
are lines too about the mouth which only
pain can give. Many women look for-
ward to a week of such misery each
month. Three months of each year are
?lren up to suffering. It weakens them.

Well it's a good sign for
Scott's Emulsion. The body
has to be repaired like other
things and Scott's Emulsion is
the medicine that does it.
These poor bodies wear out
from worry; from over-work
from disease. They get thin
and weak. Some of the new
ones are not wen made and
all of the old ones are racked
from long usage.
Scott's Emulsion fixes all
kinds. It does the work both
inside and out. It makes soft
bones hard thin blood red
weak lungs strong hollow
places full. Only the best ma-
terials are used in the patching
and the patches don't show
through the new glow of health.
