It VKNIl.i: DRAMATIC 1 KIM'OIIMA SOU.
To bo accomplished oneself is a
boon to ordinary-mortals but to be
able to impart successfully one's art
to others is indeed a dower from
the gods. Mies DtZouohe who
has so long held the place of honor
among our elocutionists demon-
strated on hut Saturday evening
that she was thus doubly gifted.
At Goggan's Alusio Hall her pupils
ranging in years from seven to six-
teen enacted a littlo comedy so
clove i ly that older amateurs had
best look to their laurels. The
curtain went up disclosing a pretti-
ly set stao and tho potito come-
diotta "Tho Princo and the Page"
was rendered by tho following tast:
Part i:
Princess Chinchilla Aliss Alay
Yaughan Dupreo.
Alopsey the Alaid Aliss Lida
Popo.
Princo of Aatrac3n Aliss Edith
Saundois.
Ermine the Page Miss Juliotte
Colin.
Part ii:
R9oitation-"Tho Pardoned Sin"
Alurray Miss Louise Beach.
Recitation "Tho Ragged Aim"
Riley Aliss May Vaughan Dupree.
Recitation "Flo's Loiter" Rox-
ford Aliss Juliette Cohn.
Si'i:nk i uom Kixr. John:
Arthur Aliss Edith Saunders.
Hubert Aliss DtZouoho.
Aliss Alay Vaughan Dupreo was
an entrancing littlo princess not
only pretty to look at in her dainty
robes but showing such a concep-
tion of the role investing it with
suoh dignity ami reaching the oli-
mat of her success in tor graceful
dancing of tho minuet extremely
i lever and so charming in appear-
ance that wo ilonot wonder that she
won a sweetheart. Aliss Saunders
made a splendid Prnco of Astraoan
but it w iu in the scene from King
John later in the evening that she
sheved her elooutionary talent
wli'oh is being judiciously de-
veloped Her portrayal of Arthur
was moro than good.
We have left tho "least one" for
the last. Little Juliotto Colin was
sj onto as Ermine the page that
1 that she carried her audience with
hor. Tho way tho tot twirled tho
imainaiy moustache and ga.ad
vacantly through her eyeglass was
very fetching. Aliis Juliotto un
doub'.ealy has dramatics talent.
The second part of the programme
consisted of recitations all of the
pupils doing their teacher much
credit. Altss Louise Beach recited
"Tho Pardoned Sin" bo well that
alio was compelled to re-pom! to an
enthusiastic encoro.
The scene from King John was
intensely enjoyed. Aliss DeZouohe
as Hubert prosejtfed an ebgant
stage appearance and interpreted iho
rolo in a way that would have graced
tho professional stage. AIhs Sum-
ders ably supported Aliss Dt-Zjuoho
in the scene. Cards of invitation
issued tho week previous were re-
sponded to by a largo number of
frieLd" and it is Beldom one sees
such a will pleased audionce.

Tho society coterio owes a rTebt
to Alessrs. Shumate Mat'.ox and

to repay. They literally aro tho
sen ants of society always ready
and to gracious withal to lend their
aid at all social functions. They
sacrifice their own pleasure in a
gieat moasurp iu responding to tho
many appeals to load germans; giv-
ing their labors that wo may have
a delightful time and thus it is that
we owe them such a large debt tho
interest of which is ivor accruing.
The threo gentlemen divide honors
evenly and novhere could we find
