A PIANO IN HIS LUNQS
Remarkable Human Curiosity Living
on the Pacific Coast
Ot all the musical curiosities that
Nature has produced lately one of the
oddest is a man with a piano in his
lungs On the Pacific coast there la
a man by the name of Pearson his
native stato Is said to he Arkansas
but ho now resides In a small Wash-
ington town who can without any
unduo effort send forth remarkable
melodies which sound like the music
of a piano with a melodeon accom-
paniment
This lung piano as It has been
termed by the owner Is partly a gift
of Nature but Pearson has cultivated
the use of the extraordinary lnstru
mont vervcarefnllv anil thnmnehly
until now ho Is able RTplny several
familiar tunes with wonderful expres
ilon and technique Friends of Pear
ion say that his sen ices are Invalu-
able when church fairs bazaars and
country entertainments are on hand
He makes an excellent barker and
his tuneful voice penetrates the fur-
thermost corner of a meeting house or
tent Ho says that other people could
perfect themselves In the same ac-
complishment If they tried It and prac-
ticed It regularly
Hostess Trade Union
What Is wanted Is a hostess trade
union a powerful combination of so-
ciety women pledged to maintain their
own selfrespect and to extinguish
socially any man guilty of the slight-
est lapso of the courtesy which every
woman has every right to expect The
drawback tothe formation of such a
society lies In the fact that unfortu-
nately being respected neither by men
nof by cadi other most women do not
respect themselves either Ladles

The late Dr Henry Martyn Tlold
tome years ago rolatod at a Williams

dent of his freshman days at college
Being only 12 years old when he
entered ho had not reached tho point
where the natural friction between tho
big boy and the small boy ceases and
ho was at particular feud with one of
his fellows a stalwart country youth
fresh from the farm Ono day young
Field went early to tho classroom and
put upon the big blockboard a very
exasperating caricature of his en-
emy with his namo beneath When
the aggrieved party Baw what had
been done he said not a word but
catching up his youthful tormentor ho-
used him as an eraser and after rub-

took his seat
