Indian golf men win TIAA title;
women finish 10th nationally

The Lady Indian golf team
qualified last semester for the
National Association of In-
tercollegiate Athletics
women's golf champion-
ships in Tulsa Okla.
The team placed 10th na-
tionally with a 54-hole total
of 1122.
Only two schools fielded
teams last year therefore a
Texas Intercollegiate Athletic
Association championship
was not held. This became a
blessing in disguise as the
team qualified for the na-
tional tournament in only
theirsecond yearof competi-
tion. The women's golf team
consisted of Meredith
Knight Mandy LopezShelly
McWhortcr Daisy Conley
and Karen Thompson.
At the TIAA men's golf
championship the McMurry
team claimed its third con-
secutive title. These Indians
shot a 975 total to win a two-
stroke victory over the
Hardin-Simmons Cowboys
who finished with a total of
977.
McMurry's Jason Hutt and
Josh Long earned All-TIAA
honors and Long was med-
alist runner-up.
The men's golf team con-
sisted of Greg Sigler Jason
Hutt Regan King Ryan King
Josh Long and Toby Thompson.
