ever need. Senior post Eric
Burness was averaging 20.7
points and 8.2 rebounds.

McMurry University Ath-
letic Director Spud Aldridge
has announced he will retire
from McMurry on May 31.
Aldridge has served as
McMurry's athletic director
since 1986.

of the University. "We wish

hope he will continue to be
closely associated with Mc-
Murry in the years to come."
Aldridge was offensive co-
ordinator for the McMurry
football team and head track
coach from 1974-76. He was
named head football coach in
1976 and served in that ca-
facityuntill981'. j
He led his teams to a 36-27-0
record in six years includ-
ing a TIAA championship
and a National Association
of Intercollegiate Athletics
national playoff berth.
Aldridge was NAIA Dis-
trict Vm Coach of the Year in
1978 and 1980 and TIAA
CoachoftheYearinl980. He
was an NAIA national nomi-
neefor Coach of the Year and
McMurry Alumni Coach of
the Year in 1992.
He was named to the Mc-
Murry AthleticHallofHonor
in 1992.
Aldridge worked as a dis-
trict manager for Ashland
Chemical Co. for four years
from 1982-86 before return-
ingasathleticdirectorinl986. He is a 1956 graduate of
McMurry and earned a
master of education degree
from McMurry 1958.
