JIM A. BAILEY, Regional Manager of GOOD-
YEAR'S Southern Division was here with Jack
Nolde, Acting Branch Manager at Dallas. Jim
Bailey has .» for many years been one of my best
friends, both personally and in a business way.
He was a chain smoker until he quit not long
ago.^ He said, "I didn’t quit, I just stopped."
He did not quit on his doctor’s advice. He just
realized what cigarettes were doing to1'him.And
he is along about the age when many chain-smoJ^s
die---56. Did it ever occur to you that most
people who die young, die because of something
they are doing or have done? If you do not
like to think about it, just go ahead and do
what you are doing.
NICE LETTER from Mrs. W, D. Key, formerly
on Sherman Drive, now 816 Indiana, Corpus Chris-
ti, Texas. A very nice person.
ZELDA WRITES: "I saw Joey Scotti’s picture
in the paper last week. Some thief had stolen
the automobile Joey won o& the TV Amateur program
The reporter said that Joey could not be consoled
by the fact that the car was insured. He wanted
the very car that he had won with his once-paral-
yzed hands, and had given to his dad." (see p. 5)
ENA LOUISE SHRADER, daughter of the Frank
Shraders, graduated from SMU with high honors.
REV..HOMER VANDERPOOL (Tyler St. Meth.,Dal-
las ) has bought the old John L. Foster place
east of town and is dressing it up. It will be
a wonderful place for a vacation and a good home
to "retire to", when that time comes. The Van-
derpools will be a fine addition. He is a broth-
er of my good friend, Walter Vanderpool, Dist.
Supt. here.
SUSAN Shepherd visited her grandparents, The
Sam Fritz’s WHILE HER PARENTS, vacated in New Or-
leans and Old Mexico. Mrs. Shepherd was Mary
Alice Fritz. Mr. S. sells Oldsmobiles and Case
inplements in Casper, Wy. Sam and Mrs. Fritz
spend considerable time up there with them and
Gladine, in the summer. He says he and Ion
Claytor have a big time as neither of them have
a thing that needs doing. Mr. Claytor is Mrs.
W. N. Rowell’s brother. (see p. 12).
