The thirty-fourth annual Western History Association conference will
be held October 20-23 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Forty sessions
have been organized around the theme "The West: Diverse Visions."
WHA President Alvin Josephy Jr. will preside over the meeting and give
a luncheon address entitled "I Have Seen the Elephant." David McCul-
lough, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Truman, will be the guest speak-
er at the annual banquet. Tours to Santa Fe, Pecos, and Acoma are
among the planned events. Conference programs and registration forms
will be mailed to members in late July. To request a copy of the pro-
gram, write to the Western History Association, University of New Mexi-

The thirty-eighth annual Missouri Valley History Conference will be
held in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 9-11, 1995. Proposals for papers
and sessions in all areas of history, accompanied by one-page abstracts
and vitae, should be sent by October 15, 1994, to Dale Gaeddert, Chair,
MVHC, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska 68182.
The program committee of the North American Labor History Con-
ference invites proposals for panels and single papers on the theme
"Culture and Community in Working Class History" for the 1995 meet-
ing, to be held on October 19-21, 1995, at Wayne State University in
Detroit, Michigan. Submit proposals, including one-to-two-page paper
abstracts and vitae for all participants, by March 1, 1995, to Elizabeth
Faue, Coordinator, North American Labor History Conference, Depart-
ment of History, 3094 Faculty Administration Building, Wayne State

The 1st Cavalry Division Association, headquartered in Copperas
Cove, will host its forty-seventh annual reunion in Orlando, Florida, dur-
ing the week of August lo. Reunion headquarters will be the Hyatt Or-
lando Hotel in Kissimmee. The 1st Cavalry Division Association has
thirty-one active chapters across the country and another five currently
being formed. Registration for the reunion will be on Wednesday, Au-
gust io. Attending veterans, who will span the history of the "First
Team" from the days of horse troopers through World War II, Korea,
Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Somalia to active duty soldiers of today, will
gather in a "Reunion Room" at the hotel. For more information, contact
