We aie versed in Greek and Latin
We can quote from sages wise;
We have studied many poets and in
college won a prize
For scientific knowledge we must take
some more degrees.
But no matter what the subject we
discuss it with all ease.
Y We are fond of famous paintings and

And with all our other culture wo arc

fur ho cannot air wor the question
without reviewing thrni miiiip. It is
natural for a person to forget things.
F.very teachor expects you to spend
at least two hours outside of recita-
tion pi oparing the lesson. If a stu-
dent has six subjects lie is lequircd
to spend eighteen hours studying.
When is ho going to find time to take
exercise lly the time he has finished
his four yea is in college ho is a phys-
ical wreck.
Sometimes we think (but surely
we must be wrong) that the teacher
is behind in her work and wants to
spend the hour in preparing for the
next lesson. If this be true it is not
treating the student light. The thing
to do if we just must have quizes is
for the teacher to notify the class1 at
least a day before she intends to give
tlie quiz. This will give the students
time to prepare and make a good
grade. If they do not tell us and con-
tinue with these Pop quizes there will
be a groat many good students mak-

bid you give him a lift? He's a
Inotlur of man
And bearing about all the burden he
can.
Did you give him a sinilo?
He was downcast and blue
And the sinilo would have helped him
to ImttK it through.
Did you give him your hand?
Ho was slipping down hill
And the world so 1 fancied was using
him ill.
Did you give him a word?
Did you show him the road?
Or did you just lot him go on with
his load?
Do you know what it means to be los-
ing the light ?
When a lift just in time might set ev-
ery thing right?
Do you know what it moans just a
clasp of the hand
When a man's borne about all a man
ought to stand?
Did you nk what it wivi why the
quivering lip?
Why the half suppressed sob and the
scalding tear-i drip?

It really is remarkable in spite of all
we know
That three more years must come to

On higher criticism we can talk with
logic true
But we're not above the humble tasks
our hands may And to do.
Despite what men may say or write
we Freshies so refined
With such a fund of knowledge and
with such a cultured mind
In spite of all the books we read and
keep upon the shelves
The lessons we recite we must Lea in
