Dr. James C. Cooke associate professor of
industrial technology is to receive the West
Central Industrial Technology Association Out-
standing Teacher Award for 1996.
Cooke will be presented the award at Texas A &
M University this weekend.
This award is based on three criteria: profession-
alism service and qualifications as a teacher.
Members of the Technology Association chose
teachers within each district - made up of 14 to
15 counties - to be nominated for this award.
" This year four teachers from the district were

professor of industrial technology.
Based on the criteria Cooke was chosen for this
year's Outstanding Teacher Award.
"Dr. Cooke is one of the most outstanding
teachers in our area" Drennan said. Cooke has
taught for 18 years at many institutions of learn-
ing including ACU and various other middle
schools.
Cooke said he was honored to receive this award.
Teachers are not always out in front of the-public
and they need to be recognized he said.
Because of his enthusiasm for what he teaches
Cooke said his students are motivated to learn.
Cooke said teachers should be interested in what
they are teaching or a student will not be motivat-
ed to learn.
