Catholic Life Insurance
holds 92nd convention
Catholic Life Insurance, the
nation's 8th largest fraternal life
insurer, held its 92nd biennial
convention August 13-14,2010.
More than 600 Catholic Life
Insurance members and their
families met at the Grand Hyatt
Hotel in San Antonio, Texas,
for the event.
Priscilla and Ronnie Stallcup
represented the 259 member
Scotland Branch; and Annie
Hoff, Deana Vieth, Edward Wolf
and Gary Wolf represented the
618 member Windthorst Branch
of Catholic Life Insurance as
delegates to the convention.
During the two-day meeting,
delegates heard reports given by
the Chairman of the Board, the
President, the Treasurer, and the
Audit Committee Chairman
reflecting the impressive growth
of the organization since the last
convention and reaffirming
Catholic Life's financial
strength. Additionally, the
convention served as a kickoff
to the organization's 110th
anniversary celebration.

individuals, families, and

Michael Belz, president and
chief executive officer. "We

Influenza
Clinic
DSHS will be conducting an
influenza immunization clinic
in the Parish Hall in Windthorst
on Thursday, October 7 from
10-12 and 2-6. The influenza
vaccine for adults will be
available. Medicare, Medicaid
and Chip are accepted as full
payment. $10.00 is asked for
others getting the flu injection.
Pneumococcal vaccine is
available also.
All school immunizations as
well as infant immunizations
will be offered. These include
Tdap, Menningococcal, DtaP,
Polio, Hib, MMR, Hepatitis B,
Prevnar, Varicella and Hepatitis
A as well as Pediarix and
Pentacel for infants.
The Texas Department of State
Health Services operates on a
sliding fee scale which takes into
consideration the family income
and number in the household
but no one is denied services
due to an inability to pay. Parents
or guardians must accompany a
minor.

In other action, delegates
elected four individuals to serve
on the eight-member Board of
Directors; Sixtus Laskowski of
Stockdale; James Persyn of San
Antonio; Lawrence Shimek of
Nada; and Doris Short of
Arlington. Each was elected to a
four-year term. They will join
Mike Decker of San Angelo;
Gladys Haecker of Schertz; Tom
Sladecek of Jarrell; and Tom
Berger of Magnolia on the
Board.
Following the convention, the
Board of Directors met and
elected Tom Sladecek as
Chairman, Gladys Haeker as
Vice Chairman, and Michael
Decker as Secretary.

Graduation ceremonies were
held the following day at the
National Infantry Museum in
Columbus, Georgia. After a brief
visit home, Keaton reported for
active duty at Fort Lewis, Wash-
ington.
Keaton is the son of Bob and
Laurie (Berend) Zotz and Joey
Veitenheimer. Grandparents are
Rick and Carolyn (Loftis)
Berend, Marie Veitenheimer and
James and Pat Zotz, all of
Windthorst.
