from its annual March tour.
After four days of an exhaust-
ing itinerary singing before aud-
iences in 11 cities the "Singing
Men of Abilene Christian" were
still surprisingly vigorous.
Perhaps the most memorable
and yet tiring event took place in
Hobbs New Mexico. Near the end
of the regular 30 minute perfor-
mance the principal of the
school walked on the stage and
whispered to Harry Ficrbaugh
conductor of the Glee Club. Then
Prof. Ficrbaugh signaled for the
concert to continue and the
group went through its entire
repertoire.
Before this concert wu flnhhed
members of the club were as one
member put it "ready to fall off
the risers." Unknowingly lhey
had drawn the duty of entertain-
ing the student body while offic-
ials searched for an alleged bomb
in another building.
Not all was work however. In
Odessa they attended a Purple
and White banquet and In New
Mexico they toured Carlsbad
Caverns and sang one number In
the dinning hall. In Lubbock the
Glee Club playfully altered the
words of "Who Did?" and nearly
caused Prof Fierbaugh to break
up laughing that Is.
In Kormlt a member of the
group yelled from the bus for a
girl to give him her name and
address. Whon the bus later halt-
ed at a stpp sign she stepped
from a car and fulfilled his re-
quest. Like most of the cities they
visited Kcrmit is a very friendly
town I
