Homecoming '83 activities set for weekend
The Homecoming '83 schedule
includes a full weekend of events
Feb. 25-26 for alumni students
faculty and staff.
A parade musical basketball
game concert art show and class
reunions will be highlights of the
Homecoming activities.
A Western Art Show will kick off
the weekend from 1-5 p.m. Friday
Feb. 25 in Duffy Auditorium. Early
registration also begins that after-
noon in Moody Student Center
and Ellis Center will host an Open
House from 1-5.
The Torchlight Parade begins at
6:30 that night ending with a pep
rally in front of Moody Center.
Curtain time for Something's
Afoot the Homecoming musical
playing Feb. 22-26 In Van Ellis
Theatre will be 8 p.m. Friday and
Saturday.
Registration will continue on
Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m. and
1:30-4 p.m. In Moody Student
Center. Also In Moody a continen-
tal breakfast will be available for
alumni faculty and staff.
A Homecoming Parade new to
the festivities this year and com-
plete with clubs' floats will start at
10:30 a.m. The parade will begin on
Ambler Street and follow a route
through campus.
After the parade the Alumni
Association Annual Barbeque will
be served in Mabee Complex. The
program includes elections officer
installation and presentation of

that time campus clubs and
organizations will host traditional
teas and receptions for alumni.
At 3 p.m. the Choir and Or-
chestra Homecoming Concert will
be performed.
Reunion dinners for the classes
of 1958 1963 and 1973 will be held
in Moody Center at 5:30 p.m.
In preparation for the Homecom-
ing basketball game a spirit
caravan will leave at 6:30 p.m. for
Taylor County Coliseum. The game
against the University of Arkansas
at Little Rock begins at 7:30. The
Coming Home Queen will be
crowned during halftime.

SC elections
Petitions for those planning to
run for Student Congress Presi-
dent will be available March 3 in
the Student Affairs Office Moody
Center.
Also Spirit Squad petitions will
go out Thursday and nominations
for Rodeo Sweetheart may be
made at the Student Congress of-
fice. Petitions and nominations are
due March 10. The election will
take place March 31 with
speeches given in chapel earlier
that week.
New trustees
Two new trustees for Hardin-
Slmmons University were Introduc-
ed Friday morning at a meeting of
the board. The new members are
Hilton Hemphill of Houston
member of First Baptist Church In
Houston and son of Dr. and Mrs.
Lee Hemphill of Abilene and the
Rev. Paul R. Vasquez pastor of
Abilene's Ambler Avenue Baptist
Church.
Student teaching
Any student planning to student
teach during the fall 1983 semester
must have the applications com-
pleted and turned in at the School
of Education office Abilene Hall
A-1 no later than April 1.
