Well it seems that all the male
class favorites are on the ath-
letic role in the University. That
is if not major then on the minor
standpoint.
The senior favorite is Johnny
Howerton a basketballer from
Fort Worth Poly. Howerton is all
class vipe-president and the
"King"- (quote of the STAR TELE-
GRAM) of his '55 classmates.
The junior favorite is Hal Har-
alson is an intramural tennis
champion who hails from Lo-
raine. Haralson is the Presi-
dent of the Life Service Band
along with his personality honor.
Massegee Soph Favoriie
Charlie Messegee who is not a
stranger to H-SU football fans
is the elected sophomore favorite
and was President of the Minis-
terial Council is his freshman
year. Charlie was second team
All-BC in football also during
his freshman year.
Another Poly boy Earl Brown
took the Freshman personality
award. Earl is the starting half-
back on the "B" Poke football
tean and is now on the traveling
team.
Massegee and Haralson are
ministerial students and Hower
ton and Brown are P. E. majors.
"Statistics Tell ?"
This week as the Cowpokes
travel to Tempe they take along
with them a bunph of statistics
from the Sun Devil Sports News
room that do not look too apetiz-
ing. In quoting Lee W. Coleman
Director of Sports Publicity for
ACC we would like to give you
some figures on just what the
gridmen will be up against.
First it is their homecoming.
They have three wins and a tie
against a single loss.
Disheartening
But here is the disheartening
feature:
Every time they carry the ball
they average 6.5 yards. Every
time they pass and complete it
they average 14.5 in which case
they have completed 50 out of 85!
But every time they just throw
the blasted pigskin in the air
they have been averaging in their
five games played 7.7.
And every SINGLE time they
even start a down they have
averaged 6.5 as they have picked
up 1775 yards on 276 carries.
Quarterback Dave Graybill has
completed 24 out of 42 thrown

H-SU's unpredictable Cowboys
wrapped up their second confer-
ence victory of the season Satur-
day night at Canyon with a 19-
18 win over previously unbeaten
West Texas State.
The Cowboys trailing 18-13
with less than four minutes re-
maining in the game relied on
the arm of Kenneth Ford to re-
verse the situation.
With 3:32 still shown on the
clock Ford passed to left half-
back Charles Massegee on the
Cowboy 46. From there Ford fad-
ed back and pulled the trigger on
a long pass that sailed into the
hands of right halfback Joel
Honeycutt on the Buff 20 and
then the speedy sophomore
sped the final distance for the
winning touchdown.
Buffs Grab 12-0 Lead
The Buffaloes opened the scor-
ing with a one yard plunge by left
halfback Joe Walden as the clock
showed five minutes still to play
New Dorm I Leads
Speedball Loop
Dorm I has taken over the lead
in the girls' intramural speedball
tournament. After three weeks of
competition. Dorm I has beaten

beaten Hunter 8-2 and Town had
to forfeit their first game to Hun-

two minutes later quarterback
Jack York scored the second Buff
touchdown on a 13-yard bootleg
to give West Texas a 12-0 first
quarter lead.
In the second quarter Massegee
picked off a pass from Buffaloe
quarterback Bubba Hillman and
returned it 27 yards from his own
36 to West Texas's 37.
Owens picked up a first down
on the West Texas 26 then picked

the Sun Devils for they have run
up an impressive yardage total
both on the ground and in the air.
The Arizona offense is led by

finest fulbacks in Sun Devil his-
tory. During 1954 Sedler gained
