Railroad Rumors.
A private letter received from
Sherman contains the cheering
information that in railroad cir-
cles in that city it is said that the
road' recently chartered from
Sherman via Pilot Point and Al-
bany to Abilene would commence
work in a very short time wiih
Albany as the objective point.
The prosperity of our city dur-
ing the coming spring, depends
solely upon the public spirit dis-
played by onr business men in
liberal advertisements and sub-
scriptions towards securing diff-
erent wholesaling and manufact-
uring Interests that “may come
onr way.” It is not as some
seem to think, a useless waste of
mouey, bat a rich investment in
which the dividends are sure and
quickly returned.

Among the pictures and attrac-
tive advertisements that greet
the eyes of Northern people now
days are: Texas steers, the Lone
Stars, the plethorio bulls, tbe ro-
tund cotton bales, tbe luscious
bunches of grapes, the abnormal
vegetables, the scenes in busy
cities, and the man with a hoe.
Texas now has a Base Ball
Lea gue. A session was held at
gan Antonio last Saturday and a
schedule of games adopted.
What is a state without s base ball
league. ______
The business men and property
owners of Pilot Point should keep
wide awake and look well to their
interests. The Santa Fe from
Dallas to Gainesville a projected
line which will probably be built
this season will give to us another
ontlet to the north and the piner
ies in Eastern Texas. Therefore
the advantages of this road when
completed cannot be over-esti-
mated. With a good crop year
as is- now expected, Texas will
take on such a boom in all inter-
nal improvements as has never
before been witnessed. Tbe tide
of immigration is now taming
this way, the inducements offer-
ed by railroads, giving low rates
of fare will bring thousands of
people into the state prospecting
with a view of locating.
Pilot Point as a market for cot
ton, gram, hay, fruits and pro-
dace, stands among other towns,
at the head of the list, this being
conceded, we cannot afford to sit
still and see the trade that nat-
urally belongs to us directed to
other points. We must be up
and doing to retain this trade and
get as much more as we can
The solid Improvements already
in contemplation are indications
of coming growth and prosperity
to tbe city, and what we say for
the town will apply with equal
force to the surrounding country.
Better farm dwellings, barns and
fences are a few of tbe evidences
of thrifty, prosperous people and
the Post-Mtbbob will be found
in the procession in all matters
that will tend to increase the bus-
iness and develop tbe country.

icine for 40 years ought to know
