some very strange incidents are to take
place in the future according to his
ideas.
After the last course President. Sandcfcr
was justly introduced as our highly es-
teemed and beloved president. He inter-
taincd for a short time with some jokes
and comparisons that could very readily
be applied to several personages present.
Immediately following his brief' but bril-
liant talk; all present drank to the future
of the Junior and Senior classes of Sim
mons College. Each one left for their re-
spective homes with a feeling of satisfac-
tion and good fellowship for all.

PHILO SOCIETY.
On Friday Feb. 20 the Philo Literary
Society met in Philo Hall with a large
number of its members present. After
the opening song a short business session
was held. The committee appointed to
see about the Philo page in the Broncho
made a report.
A program of the following numbers
was given:
Quartette: Messers. Stulce Roberts
Walton and Garrett.
Have' I the proper College spirit? T. E.
Roberts.
Correct Society spirit Reuben Ellis.
The society adjourned to meet with the
Mary E. Society for yell practice.
THE REAL PURPOSE OF CHAPEL.
A very prominent lawyer was asked to
give his reason for worshipping at a little
mission church in one of our grea cities
and this is what he said: "They do
things."
If our student body was asked as to the
purpose of chapel their reply would be:
"To do things in a. practicable and devo-
tional way." We know it is a good thing
when properly conducted and we feel'that
every chapel hour should be profitable.
How can we expect the students to attend
when it is. the same old line formal pray-
ers and one or part of a Scripture without
comment. (
One remedy would be a variation in
program. Have the fine arts department
take charge occasionally. Let the Mission
Bpnd render a program. Just anything
for a change. "
