Graduation policy
evoked by deans
; A policy that students may not walk
nhrough the May graduation ceremony
before completing all required hour
ai revoked after the Studenti
Association approached the deans last
semester.
. "A student in the College of Liberal
;aad Fine Arts Natural and Applied
Sciences or Professional Studies who
is within seven semester hours of
graduation at the end of the spring
semester may participate in the cxer-
dscs on May 5 1985' said Dr. C.G.
ftflpray dean for academic affairs.
kTSenlors who intend to graduate in
' -May lacking up to seven hours must
- petition to the dean of their college and
. make a non-refundable deposit of tui-
tion and fees by Feb 15 said Gray.
Students in the College of Business
must complete all of the hours re-
quired for their major before they walk
through the ceremony said Robert
Pitman president of the Students'
Association. "Ths College of Business
made this policy last year so business
majors have had a fair warning" he
said.
The same policy was instated for all
majors this year but th'eSA met with
the deans to request that the policy be
revoked for this year's seniors
"Aflcr hearing o lot of complaints
from seniors who thought they could
walk through the ceremony in May
and finish out during one of the sum-
mer sessions the SA got to work on it"
said Pitman.
"The reason we wanted the policy
revoked for the other majors is because
It was sprung on them this semester
without any warning and we didn't
think that was very fair" said Dale
Butler SA vice president.
Crime Stoppers
eads to suspects
' f Two Abilene youths were charged
" for the robbery of a local business after
police received two anonymous calls
on the Crime Stoppers hot line. The
"robbery was the Crime Stoppers'
Crime of the Week Nov. 27- Dec 4
- and the two informants will share the
SI 000 reward for the information
they gave to Abilene police said Sgt.
I Deiken investigative crime official.
The calls were received in the "latter
(TOrt of November" said Deiken. The
Second caller's information agreed
Iwith the information of the first infor-
' 'mant and together the information was
'substantial enough for Detective
Roger Berry to form a case and charge
'the two suspects.
I The first caller said two men had
been involved in the robbery of Robert
.Strauss Clothiers at 2532 South 7th
. wherc they allegedly removed an "ex-
cess of $12000" worth of clothing ac-
'cording to police records.
Reported stolen were 80 three-piece
and double breasted suits; a three-quarter-length
Ruebcn Grais leather
top coat; six Rueben Grais khaki-
colored coats; six English Squire coats;
five Pro Celebrity sweat suits and two
Boston Trader sweaters. None of the
clothing has been recovered.
One of the two charged with the
crime is in custody and the second is at
large.
In order for a case to become a
Crime of the Week the crime must be
an unsolved felony and have stagnant
investigative leads. These crimes
presumably can only be solved with
the aid of outside informants such as
the two in the Robert Strauss case said
Deiken.
"Certainly in this case where over
80 suits and other clothes were involv-
ed there had to be someone who knew
about the case" said Deiken. "We
may be missing clues that are
valuable" said Deiken indicating that
anonymity is encouraged and possible.

ine physical tacilities committee
has decided to change the flow of traf-
fic at the intersection of East North
16th and the south parking lot of the
Administration Building due to
reports of potential accidents said Bill
Fowler assistant vice president of
finance.
The west exit will remain the same
but the middle entrance will become
an exit said Fowler The east exit will
become an entrance only said Fowler.
Therefore the parking lines will point
opposite their present direction said
Fowler.
This change will put the exits far-
ther away from traffic entering E.N.
16th from Washington Boulevard and
the Nelson Hall parking lot said
Fowler.
The change was to have been made
during Christmas break but as ofJan.
9 there was too much moisture in the
ground below the parking lot. A small
amount of moisture is necessary to re-
pave the parking lot said Don
Southally director of buildings and
grounds.
