Members of the alumni board
immediately reacted favorably to
the idea and began making sug-
gestions as to how we could make
the program attractive to our ox--students
and friends. The caption
"Pay for a Day" was proposed
and chosen as a descriptive and
logical title for the project.

completed its third year.
EACH DONOR is invited to the
campus on the day he has under-
written the operational expenses
of the college. Our Pay for a Day
guests are usually introduced to
the 2500 Abilene Christian stu-
dents and faculty at the daily
chapel exercises.
The college invites these guests
to have lunch in the college cafe-
teria Their hosts arc various
members of the administration
faculty and staff as well as stu-
dent leaders.

Hour of Prayer'
An hour of prayer beginlng at
0 o'clock tonight in Room 114 of
the College church will be part of
an endeavor carried out on the
campuses of six Christian college
campuses.
Students at Pepperdlne Hard-
ing David Lipscomb North Cen-
tral Christian N.I.C.E. and Flor-
ida Christian are co-operating in
the effort with ACC students.
The "Hour of Power" as it is
called was organized during Lec-
tureship week at a meeting of
visiting students from other
Christian colleges.
Said Jim Samuel director of
religious activities for the Stu-
dents' Association "I am con-
vinced that many of us are long-
ing for deeper devotion and
greater interest In Christ's ser-
vice among Christian young peo-
ple. "This meeting tonight is not in-
tended to be an arm-waving
emotional thing but we hope for
it to be atreal spiritual experi-
ence." Samuel said that other such
gatherings would be held
throughout the year.

the folder which the president of
the college always sends follow-
ing the occasion.
FOR THOSE who are unable
to come to the campus the folder
contains the program of chapel
the student newspaper and any
other pertinent material with a
letter of appreciation signed per-
sonally by the president. A year-
end expression of appreciation is
also sent.
An honor board located in the
main entrance hall of the Admini-
stration Building lists the name
of the donor his home town and
the honorccs of that day.
DURING 1957 114 days on the
calendar were underwritten (at a
cost of $245 each) through the Pay
for a Day plan. The remainder of
the operational funds for that
year were provided through com-
bining the gifts of all other
donors.
The next year 143 days (at
$280) were underwritten although
during the latter part of 1958 and
the first eight months of 1959 the
program was de-emphaslzed due
o an Important $500000 class-
room building campaign.
A member of our development
staff has been assigned this pro-
gram on a full-time basis. Under
his direction a methodical ap-
proach to secure the support of
every volunteer segment of our
college family Is being planned.
NOT LONG after the Pay for a
Day program was launched at
Abilene Christian college it was
introduced on three other Chris-
. tlan college campuses and it has
met with success at all three in-
stitutions. It Is hoped that the
college can "sell" every day in
1960 to ex-students parents
friends and industry prospects
who believe in keeping open the
doors of privately endowed Chris-
tian colleges.
