Gore hopes art will lead her to teach overseas
Molly Gore (left) is a
freshman art major from
Silver Valley located
between Abilene and
Coleman. She dabbles
in photography for fun
but focuses more on
drawings and Mehndi
(or Henna) temporary
body drawings lasting
for 1-2 weeks.
"I always liked to
draw" said Gore who
was homeschooled. "1
didn't think I was any
good at it so I didn't
do it much. One day
when I was about 12
years old I just decid-
ed 1 wanted to draw
even if I wasn't any
good.
""I drew on my
own and I joined
the Coleman County
Junior Art League. I
decided that's what I
needed to do in col-
ege.
Gore's interest in
Henna developed from
photos of a friend who
was a missionary in
Sudan. "They do Henna
for weddings and cele-
bration festivals in the
Middle East" Gore
said. "I saw some pic-
tures of it and thought
it was neat. On my
16th birthday I got a
Henna kit and I just
started doing it."
Gore is unsure of her
plans after college.
"Possibly I'd like to
teach art on the college
level. I want to trav-
el and spend most of
my life in other places
and experience other
things. I may teach art
overseas if I can" she
said.
