It seems the faculty is getting1
that so called "fire." There were
a number of them at the Pep-

Dr. Eubanks gave a talk that was '
something to listen to and think
about. If you were not there you
don't know what I am talking
about.

at tiie Pep-Rally. They let the
Jacket boosters know what it
meant to them when everyone
was behind them that 100' . They
stated how it really boosted their
moral when the crowd of Jacket
cheerers formed the line before '
they entered the field and at the i

out and speaks about how they

ers support them; then you can

There has been much com-
mendation on the way the Jack-

game. They are saying that the
12th man is doing his part too.
This doesn't mean that we have
to slow down; but that we

I lege Demons of Louisiana invade
I Brownwood.
Last year the Demons won
i seven games while losing only
1 two. These two defeats came at
( the hands of Louisiana Tech by
i a 13- score and to Bowl winner
Southeastern Louisiana 32 to G.
Southeastern was one of the na
tion's powers among small col-
lege teams.
Gone from that team are Little
All-American Dudley Downing
center and Bob Tatum guard.
All-Conference fullback Searle
Walton and tackle Charlie John-
son will be missing. Johnson was
injured in a summer baseball ac-
cident. Nine other lettermen graduated
including tri-captain Alan Lang-
ridge 240 pound tackle Bill Har-
ris and end Earl Haynes all
regulars. To make matters worse
for the Demons regular tackle
Glyn Haynes dropped from school
and center Fred Broussard 220
pounder from Texas A&M signed
a professional contract during the
summer.
According to recent ratings
Northwestern would be a three
point favorite against the Jackets.
However the Demons met the
briusing Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
last week and with Jacket regu-
lars recovering from recent in-
juries this meeting probably will
be rated a toss-up.

Who says he's superstitious?
Jerry Vaughn Millsapps was born
on Friday November 13 1933 to
Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Millsapps in
Lamesa Texas. Jerry spent his
school years there and graduated
from Lamesa High School where
he was named Best All-Round
Boy his senior year. Jerry had an
8G average in school.
He was a three sport letterman
in high school and lettered two
years in his favorite sport base-
ball and lettered three years in
football and basketball.
"Daffy" as his teammates call
him entered Texas Tech his
freshman year but transferred to
Howard Payne ' his sophomore
year.
This five foot ten inch quarter-
back proves he's not superstitious
by wearing number "13" in every
game. The Yellow Jackets' T-
magician has never played any
other position and any Monday-
morning quarterback can see
why.
Jerry met Margie Coffee after
he started to school and said that's
the girl for me. They were mar-
ried May 28 1955. A member of
the Jacket's for Jesus Jerry was
named All Texas Conference
quarterback last year and was on
the second team of All-Texas
Colleges.
During the summer Jerry has
summer recreation jobs. He hopes
to be a coach when he graduates.
Is there anyone here from
Cisco? Big six foot two inch 185
pound Douglas Johnson is and
he's proud of it too.
Doug was born to Mr. and Mrs.
Frank W. Johnson February 3
1934 in Cisco Eastland County
Texas. "Kosse" spent most of his
school in Cisco. In high school
he lettered and was on the All-
District team three years.
This left halfback was named
to the All-Conference second
team last year. Doug has lettered
two years for Howard Payne and
was one of the bright spots in
their loss to Louisiana.
Doug who worked in an oil
field smiles when he's asked if
there is anyone special. "I'm en-
gaged" he says "to Joan Blake."
He is a senior this year and is
majoring in business.
Football is "Kosse's" favorite
sport and any loyal Jacket fan
can tell why.
