SA to buy scoreboard

Optimist Staff
The Student Senate voted
Monday to buy a scoreboard for
intramural sports.
. Cecil Eager co-director of
intramurals who brought the
request before the group said
that Dr. Dwain Hart head of the
physical education department
promised to allocate department
funds for a second scoreboard
this year The department hopes
to purchase a third scoreboard
next year.
The scoreboards priced at
$434 apiece would be used
mainly for intramural basketball
and volleyball games Eager said.
One of the attractive features of
this scoreboard he said is that it
is portable and therefore avail-
able for various uses.
Seven new Senate members
met with the group for the first
time Monday all coming from
special Interest groups. They are:
Jeannette Marshall depart-
mental organizations; Bill
Strong media; Mike Fry inter-
Social Club Council; Christie
Calhoun service clubs; Hal
Burleson Arts; Joanne Keyes
athletics; Lynn Frazier honors.
Administration approval of a
personal business course 'spon-
sored by the Senate was
announced at Monday's meeting.
The course will explain business
skills such as dealings with
investments income tax and
insurance to the non-business
student.
In entertainment considera-
tions the Senate voted to
continue a five-year tradition by
'agreeing to host at a reception
the opening night of the
Homecoming musical.

Aggies sell horn plan events
The Aggie Club began selling
ham this week as one of the
three "projects the organization
has planned for this semester.
The ham Is priced at S2 per
pound and may be purchased by
contacting a member of or the
Aggie Club office.
Aggie Club officers elected
recently are Tom Knox presl-
dent; Johnny Johnson vice
president; Mary Easter secret-
ary; Larry Fellar treasurer;
Temple Kooncc parliament-
arian; and Zona Zant reporter.
Dr. Bryan Brokaw is the club's
sponsor.
