il'rouohty most of you nro won-
dering just whnt It going on
around Abllono Christian CoIIcro
in tlio sport dopnrtmont. Well wo
w'n cmlcivt"- t0 '""k around and
I toll you whnt wo see.
One of tho first things that we
hear when wo get near tho ath-
letic field l tho hnmmcrlng nnd
banging of tlio stadium that has
stood so long n skeleton. It is
nowgeftlng tho scats bolted on.
and according to soma It will bo
ready by tho 2Gth to play tho first
J homo gamo.
Another thing that we see w'llle
out here on tho field Is a largo
group of boys carrying around a
poundnga of nnywhero from 290
down. Theso boys nro going
through several hours! practice
dally In order to play a winning
gamo.
Wo notice by tho bluoboolc that
"Dugs'1 Morris Is going to bo
rather busy it ho handles every-
thing that Is 'scheduled for him.
Looking again on tho sumo pago
of that snld book wo notleo that
different tennis will not get a
captain until tho season Is over.
Wo wonder whnt tho teams will
uso for a helmsman this season.
Our track toam will bo a few
members short this year of last
year's members but from the
crop of freshmen this year it
looks as if wo will havo a good
team if Coach Morris has tlmo
nnd energy enough to train the
football and basketball.
On tho tennis courts wo find
that we havo such men as Murray
Marshall "Aco" Jones and others
thnt will dofend ACC's title under
tho supervision of W. M. Dow ell.
Ot course tho Girls Athletic
Club will contlnuo to function
this year as ever and to enrry off
moro ba.'nnofrs from Hadln-Slm-monB
and McMurry in volleyball
and their other sports.
Later on will come tho Intra
mural sports that everyone will be
encouraged to partlcipato In some
sport or tho othor.
So on tho wholo the athletics
for tho year seems to bo some-
what promising but It will tako
more than just tho team Itself. It
will need tho wholo-hearted sup
port of every student In scho'ol.
so do your part to mako a winning
team In every sport that Is en-
tered. Watch for "STKI.Ul DALLAS'
