BRICKBATS AND BOUQUETS
The Old Fight.
Come one come all and smell die pret-
ty 'posies.
B and B. is going to strew a few flowers
along the path of some of his beloved
schoolmates. For without a doubt on Tues-
day evening the gang had the old Wildcat
fight that means victory. B. and B. is
speaking of the rooting section at the sec-
ond Howard Payne game. It was thrill-
fngly refreshing to hear the welkin ring
to sucli an extent that some of the inci-
dents of the celebrated "good old days"
that Sophs and Fish are wont to speak
slightingly of were recalled
The old fight was there. And say mates
did you notice that the old fight was out

there on the court too? Glory bel How
those bullies did fight I Them Yellow
Jackets had the stuff that brought out
every bit of the fight that the old boys
had in order to win.
Now then a basketball season which is
gratifying in view of the fact that six
games of ten were won in T. I. A. A. con
tests during the first season hi the confer-
Is over. Next comes baseball.
All of this athletics is good. Every
sport can't be beat while you're playing it.
Baseball is that good old American game
that comes in Spring In college. And It's
mighty fitting as a dessert for the athlete
feast for the year.
Soon the old leather will be smacking
around Wildcat Park and then It won't ho
long until all of us from Fish to Senior
and below Fish even will be congregated
In the old grandstand at Wildcat Park for
good old ball game.

Of course there are always those who
wish to throw the principles of good
sportsmanship to the winds and dive into
heedless and needless disputes over trifles.
Such college newspapers rarely find rccog-

It has been tho experience of A. C. C.
students that practically eevery Tarleton

tho experience of not only A. C. C. students
but students of several other colleges who
have been heard to express themselves
that Stephenville Is tho most unsportsman
like town on the map. There aro scores
of colleue athletics who will testify to that
int0 cole8 athletics. He knows tliat there
are different sorts of professionalism and
" there are different ways of being guilty
divided because the men are being payed
B. and B. is ready to balk. There Is no
real college victory in winning from a
team of that sort and it means nothing
to lose. Its just a little exercise as all
basketball games are but this sort is noth-
ing more. There is no glory in it.
The fellow who sees nothing higher than
professional athletics is hard up. B. and
B. has an idea that the local street sweeper
does a lot more for thd good of folks than
a dozen professional athletes.
But when It comes to amateur atldetics
B. and B. is always right there. He ab-
solutely Is for such athletics now and al-
ways. But B. and B. is strong for keeping
a mile away from any college which lias
so lost sight of the aim of atldetics as to
indulge in this business of either in pay-
