ERICKSON, ENNIS FAMILY
John Ennis Erickson a lifetime resident of
Bosque County was born 1899, at Norse. He
was the oldest child of Emil E. and Cecilie
Hansen Erickson. He was confirmed at the
Trinity Lutheran Church of Clifton, where he
served in the church as a member of the board
of education and trustee. He attended public
school in Cooper and Clifton.
In 1920 Ennis worked in the oil fields
around Rising Star, Texas. Then in the
summer of 1922 he worked in the harvest
fields as far north as Montana. While in
Montana he worked in the lumber camps for
a short time before he went to the state of
Washington, where he joined the U.S. Marine
Corps and served from 1922-25. He served
aboard the battleship Tennessee.
He was married to Lillie Albertine Larson
in 1926, in Clifton by the late Pastor O.T. Boe
of Trinity Lutheran Church. Lillie is the
daughter of the late Thrond and Mathilda
Larson. Lillie was born in 1902, at Norse, and
confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Clifton. She attended school in Clifton.
After their marriage they made their home
in Clifton. Ennis and a brother-in-law oper-
ated a garage and service station for a few
months in 1926. Then in October of 1926
Ennis went to work at Canuteson Machine
Shop, where he worked until retiring in 1961.
In semi-retirement he ran a lawn mower shop
at his home.
To the marriage of Ennis and Lillie was
born one son, Thilman Eugene (1927) who
married Neta Joyce Clark (1929). Thilman
was born and reared in Clifton, graduating
from Clifton High School and Clifton Junior
College. He graduated with bachelor and
master degrees from North Texas University.
Thilman served 18 months in the U.S. Army,
14 months was served in the occupation
forces in Japan (1946-68). Thilman began his
teaching career in Pyote, I.S.D. (six yrs),
Pyote, Texas. Then he taught at Dawson
I.S.D. (1 yr.), Welch, Texas, and Loop I.S.D.
(1 yr), Loop, Texas. The past 25 years he has
been principal (12 yrs) and superintendent
(13 yrs) in Christoval I.S.D., Christoval,
Texas. Ennis and Lillie had two daughters,
Mildred Colleen (1930-80) who married
William Louis Outlaw (1915-81), and Amie
Joyce (1932) who married Billy Gene Lau-
rence (1929). (See separate stories).
The grandchildren of Ennis and Lillie are:
Tresa Joyce (1960), Dena Ruth (1962), and
Ennis Eugene (1965) Erickson; William
Louis (Bill), Jr. (1948), and Victoria Lil-
lieAnn (1950) Outlaw; and Billy Gene, Jr.
(1951), John Albert (1955), Terry Joyce
(1958), and Lloyd Allen (1962, who died in
infancy) Laurence.
Ennis died in 1971, in the Clifton Hospital
and is buried in the Clifton Cemetery. Lillie
still resides in Clifton.

ERICKSON, HOMER

Homer Erickson, a life-time resident of
Bosque County, was born in 1914 on the
Erickson homestead four miles northwest of
Clifton. The son of Emil Erickson, pioneer
from Hamar, Norway, and Cecilie Hanson
Erickson, a native of Cranfills Gap, Homer isajN.

Clarence, and Alma Erickson Aars.
As a young boy, Homer helped his fat
farm and drill water wells around the Cli
community. He attended Clifton schools
graduated in 1933. Fifty years later,
attended graduation exercises for two of
oldest grandchildren, John Erickson
Sheree Odom.
During 1934 and 1935, Homer operated
steam engine for the Bee Creek Thre
Company.
In 1935, Homer married Vera Humph
daughter of Bunyan and Myrtle Kil
Humphries. Vera was born on the Pool f
in Bosque County in 1918, and grew up in
area. Vera, a hard worker and dev(

Homer began trucking in 1936, buying
selling grain from the farmers, and contin
until 1973. When he began this business
